So... no one I know has finished it yet (given that the one person I thought would pass me is slumbering peacefully on the couch in my basement, somewhere around page 275), but... damn. Just... lovely
Hey there! I'm glad there's someone else who has finished the book.
I posted my review about the book yesterday since I just finished it on Sunday night. I think that it was the best book of the series, and that is saying a lot.
Like you I think the deaths were well worked and the thing about Harry being the Master of Death was totally alright. Dobby and Fred's death broke my heart, but in the end we knew we would have some loses.
Unlike you though, I'm a Ron and Hermione fan so I thought the epilogue was ok and, though a little cheesy, I loved it.
Are you going to write a different version of it with an ending more to your liking? Or are you done with HP fan fictions for a while?
The epilogue makes more sense now that JKR has stated it's supposed to be a "vague" look into the future of our characters' lives, as well as stating a few more details for which I myself was eager (i.e., what the trio did with the rest of their lives).
Though, at the same time, a part of me screams, "LAZY WRITING!" because I was left with such distaste the first time I read it.
If I do anything else with the series, it will be post-OotP, taking place instead of HBP and DH. I definitely will write a couple of one-shots, but they will be Weasley-twin centric. I have exactly one slash ship, and it's George/Lee Jordan (no IDEA where it came from, to be honest), so expect a bit of that, though I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Finishing Deathly Hallows was like closing the door on a part of my childhood. (but thank god there's still fanfic.)
