State of the Ed

Haven't done a "State of the Ed" for awhile now.  Heck, with the exception of a muffin recipe I haven't posted here in awhile now.  I guess it's about time I started again.

So - what IS the state of the Ed, and what has been going on lately here in Casa de los Tres Gatos?

Still in therapy once per week.  I'm feeling a little frustrated about that ( Read more... )

Eurekatous - she's like 15 now and it is starting to show a bit. She doesn't have quite the energy she once had and spends more time sleeping (not that cats don't ALWAYS spend a lot of time sleepint). She is the most aloof of our cats, and usually stays away from the others, particularly Valentine, but she does like to watch their antics. She has recently taken to sleeping on my pillow at night, as sort of a cat nightcap, which is cute ( ... )

I hear ya on being just a player. Even when my schedule was not so crowded with writing, I GMed 99.999% of the time.

I found that The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, gave me a hell of a playing buzz. My computer couldn't quite manage Oblivion, but with any luck, I'll have a new computer by the time Skyrim hits.

Players are such lazy gits! Always sucking up the entertainment like roleplaying parasites!

Am I rioght thinking Earthdawn is the same system as Shadowrun? If so, I understand the worry about system getting in the way of play. Savage Worlds might work. GURPS too, if you want well-designed crunchy. (My impression of Shadowrun was that it was almost unusably crunchy, without the benefit of the simulationist feel that is normally the point of going crunchy.)

No, the systems are very different - although they are both clunky in their own way. Shadowrun and Earthdawn supposedly are connected to one another, but Shadowrun uses a dice pool system and no levels, whereas Earthdawn uses increasing die size and leveled character classes.
