OMG first thing I noticed was userpic. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Yeah...we've done a lot of build up now, and things are about to pick up on lots of levels. I've been looking forward to getting here. Exciting ;)

You've just articulated my thoughts on Effy completely - she's just a kid, a kid that's trying really hard to pretend that none of the crap in her life is hurting her, when in fact, it really is. It's a shame for her that she's so good at pretending. And words cannot describe how pleased I am that that's what you're getting from what I'm writing, as that's what I'm aiming for, so awesomesauce to that!

I love this. ♥ Never read Effy/JJ before, but you wrote this really well, makes me want to read more.

They're very faint, her freckles, scattered across her chest like little stars, and JJ can only see them if he looks carefully. He tries to count them - wants to map them out, all of their locations relative to each other

That is so cute, it sounds exactly like something JJ would do.

The part with Panda was really nice too, she does seem to know Effy without really realising it.

“You want to talk about Effy?”

“Uh…”

“It's ok,” Pandora smiles. “Most people do. She’s completely cuckoo now. Since her dad done a runner down a black hole faster than my Thomo, all because her mum was making monkey with scraggy beard face, she went really bad for a bit, but she’s better now.”

And then the end.

“Fred - I - it's…” and Effy's not helping either, only watching Freddie intently, waiting while he eventually finds what he wants to say.

“Fuck you. Fuck both of you,” he says before slamming JJ’s door closed.Is it just

No worries, honestly, it's nice to see which bits stick out for different people for whatever reasons :)

I've only ever read Effy/JJ in one other place, and that was in thecon12 's Where I Stood as a background pairing. (Saying that, if you go hunting and find more, then please link me!)

As for Freds, well, I think that his initial reaction was shock, but I'm afraid you'll have to wait and see what he really thinks about it all!

I love JJ's relationship with his mum, it's very interesting to me and I think it reveals a lot about his character and how it has been formed.

And, yeah, Effy's challenging him in ways that he's never been before, so it'll be interesting (hopefully!) to see how he copes with it.
