Like the way Cook’s fist clenches until his knuckles crack. And the way they turn white because the blood can’t get through. How the bar stool topples over because he stands up too quickly, making it unbalanced. That it takes him two steps to get close enough. And the motion of him pulling his elbow back all the way is creating kinetic energy much like a wind up toy would. How Cook bares his teeth and his face is red and his eyes are much more narrow than usual, the grunt he makes when he pushes his fist through the air, and how JJ can’t hear anything at all as it comes towards him.
The explosion of sound as the punch lands on his cheekbone."
this was amazing.

Freddie: Your characterisation reminds me while I disliked Freddie the most. He's not a bad guy, but he's incredibly self centered when he's hurting and has never treated JJ as an equal. He's taken care of him, but their friendship is woefully lopsided. Freddie really only gives a shit about himself, Karen, Cook and Effy. JJ can do better (yay Thomas and Emily!) I hope Freddie gets over himself.
I'm not sad the movie will be Freddie-less, though ( ... )

Freddie from JJ's POV is a bit of a dick really. And yeah, he's nice to people he cares about, but because he has so much other stuff, someone has to give, and it's JJ most of the time because he's the one that'll put up with it. (Not that upset RE the movie either.)
I find Cook interesting no matter what he does, because he does it with so much passion, you know? I hope he gets over his obsession with Effy, because now he can have Freddie all to himself. Hmm. Can he?
Yes, I feel bad for him too. Everything seems to be falling apart at the seams, so how will he cope...? ;) Thanks very much, that's really nice to hear and I'm glad you like the others popping in. Should be a bit more of that in the next few.
I think that you used the word connection is interesting...because first off, JJ isn't great at making connections with anyone, romantic or otherwise, and second off... I really can't say! Which is frustrating, but uh, know that I like that that's the word you used to describe ( ... )

Oh, poor JJ. I kinda feel like he's only just realising that he's been shat on for the last year (maybe more, we don't know) at that moment, which must be a crushing blow to him, because Cook and Freddie are almost on a pedestal for him. And he's beginning to think that this isn't reality anymore, this idealised version of them.
Ha, I didn't do that deliberately, it was just my, uh..JJ headspace, which was rambling, and then I read it back and was like heh, nice. Natural snark, I gots it ;)

Yeah, Effy's different with him, but not so different that it's easy for JJ to understand.
Ha, well I'm hardly going to tell you that, am I?! ;)
