Things wot I have done

Jun 30, 2010 11:02

Since Friday I have:

- had my hair cut
- driven to London
- been to Greenwich, crossed the time line thing
- watched the first in the new series of the IT Crowd (so glad it's back!)
- had food poisoning (fuck you sushi)
- watched the England game with lots of English people. The game itself was a bit miserable actually, because normally as a Scottish person, it's quite funny to see England's media build the team up every time the Euros/WC comes around, only for the team to do what any rational person expects them to: get beaten at some point. And then the media rip them apart, which is unfair really, because they weren't that good to begin with. This year though, they didn't even bother to put up a fight, so I felt bad for my English friends who were more pissed about that than they were at going out, but not so much for the people who said that man for man England have the better team than Germany, because, uh, they're very, very blinkered if they think that's actually true.

I do feel bad about the 'goal', but every team has had those sort of decisions go for them and against them, and yeah. Shall we ask Ireland what they think about video refereeing? France (and in particular, Henry) were probably quite relieved at the time. I agree that it's crazy that the only person watching the game that doesn't know what the decision should have been is the only one that actually has the power to influence the game, and Blatter's argument against it (that it would cost to much in technology) is void, because at this level, we already have the technology, it's available to all of the TV services. But at the end of the day, it's not going to change the past.

Who are people rooting for anyway? I'm supporting Paraguay only because of the office sweepstake, so quite pleased at them doing well so far. I think it'll be Brazil that'll end up winning though, but Argentina have played nicer football throughout. Depends if they can get past a pretty solid Germany team I suppose.

- been to Thorpe park
- been to Wimbledon
- been shopping and spent money I don't really have on things I don't really need, but are very pretty nonetheless.

I am, to use a technical phrase, knackered.

This afternoon I'm meeting a friend for lunch and then I have the rest of it by myself, which will be bliss. I'll probably do some writing but I'd rather do something smallish that I could get finished in a short time rather than something with plot that involves me actually having to think about it. Not thinking about things, however, means that I don't even know what I want to write, so, any ideas/requests/prompts?

prompt requests, football, rl
