For those of you who were wondering, I have spoken to Kate and she said she doesn't mind if people know what her dad and her family is going through.

To make it short, Kate's dad has been battling colon cancer for many months.  The doctors told her family this week that there is nothing left that they can do and that he is terminally ill.
