ok, so there's not much going on here, I promise one of us will write when something exciting happens. I think we've settled on a church-whew, that was a long year and a half of looking! I'm pretty sure it's not crazy or anything (hehe) and Patrick and Rose Hanks go there and told us about it. A small group (or 4-6 couples) bible study will start ( Read more... )

What church are yall going to? That's really cool about the small group Bible study. I think that's a good way to meet other couples. We've had a bit of a hard time with that. Our Sunday school class was our small group, but everyone else quit coming.

we had an awful time meeting couples, and our neighbors pretty much suck at the friendly neightbor thing (we have one who has spoken to us of his own free will) so i can't wait to get this small group rolling.

the church is called grace covenant church it is a non-denominational (they call them bible churches out here). i was hesitant about the non-denom things, but it is really the first church here where we feel that we have 1-heard consistant biblical preaching, 2-were welcomed into the church, 3-fit in. it is also much bigger than i would like, but they have decent sunday school and small group programs so you can meet people.

Glad yall have found a church. My parents regularly attend a Bible church in Wyoming when they're out there. It is real small though. How big is yall's?

probably around 1,000 attending weekly. I can't say for sure as there are 3 services and we've only ever been to one.

I can't say much about churches in your part of the country--although I can tell you that the ones up here are pretty funny. (I was looking at Episcopalian churches in this area, again...and found one led by a rabbi. A rabbi?)

What I can say is that, if you are headed to an island in Hawaii with a volcano, I'd try to visit it. Hiking Mount Haleakala on Maui was by far one of my favorite experiences ever.
