[Prophets ficlet again]

lee starts to smile his real smile a lot more after that. but only when he's looking at you, you realise eventually. it's not quite the same as the first time you noticed that winning smile, but it always makes your heart do this little fluttery thing regardless and forces a content smile to your face in silent reply.
you don't always understand what makes him smile that way; you don't do anything much to earn the smiles. sometimes you won't do anything more than sit and read a magazine, and you'll look up when you feel eyes on you and lee will flash you pearly whites before turning away. it's almost like he holds a secret in his smile.
you sprawl out on the floor of the bus one night after doing press ups, worn out and sweating more than you'd be willing to admit. you fling your arms out above your head and you hit a foot. it's lee's shoe with the neatly tied laces and scuff marks on the toes, and you look up at him, and he does the smiling thing again. not that you'd ever tire of it.
he sinks down onto his knees and puts his hands on your wrists, effectively pinning your arms to the floor. "you alright up there?" you ask him, and you can see right into his eyes as they smile with the rest of him, sparkling baby blues. he leans down over you, his hair inching closer and closer to touching your chin, and then at the last second he moves so it's not your eyes that are aligned with his anymore, it's his mouth and your mouth.
and it's definitely odd to be kissing someone upsidedown, but perhaps not as weird as it should be that you're kissing lee. he's mainly gentle because he's nervous, but he doesn't show it, and you don't find out until later. he pulls away again and replies "you okay down there ian?" and you can't think of any reply better than a smile.
if anyone else notices anything, it might just be that now you have a secret smile identical to lee's.
