Pingbacks only work for public posts at the receiving end, because the form of pingback is a comment to the post. You can turn off receiving pingbacks.

However, there is apparently nothing in the code that prevents a pingback from a locked post. You cannot turn off other people receiving pingbacks from your links.

Hence, to be on the safe side, don't make links inside locked posts.

Ahh, apparently you CAN turn off sending pingbacks and thus other people receiving them.

But my first point stands. Only unlocked posts can receive a pingback, but as far as we currently know, locked posts can still send them.

An unrelated comment; http://nayruchan.deviantart.com/?loggedin=1 has some pictures inspired by Norse mythology - since her whole gallery is interesting colors and really painterly, I figured it was actually worth pointing out.
