Cartoon Network only exists from 6am to 10pm (except on Fridays). Then the station switches to Adult Swim. Adult Swim is a different broadcasting company from Adult Swim. The two have no affiliations with each other besides that they use the same channel.
Cartoon Network doesn't play anime. Adult Swim does.
