Nailah was sick of waiting.
She had returned to Hatari after long, hard-fought war, and she had managed to keep Rafiel alive for that long, which was impressive considering how often she mused that a strong breeze would push him over. Did he think she did so out of charity? Yes her instincts told her to protect those who needed it, but that only went so far, and he was an idiot if he thought she only kept him safe out of a sense of duty.
He was beautiful, for a male, and she'd never met anything nicer, and he was exotic and dumber than a stack of bricks for either refusing her, or not realizing what she wanted from him.
She had no idea what he was thinking, and she realized she never really had. He was a riddle wrapped in an incredibly polite enigma. When they came home - yes, it was his home now too, whether he knew it or not - he'd actually built a nest in her throne room. A real nest made ( ... )
