so, yeah it's been awhile....

Mar 16, 2004 10:01

so, quick recaps of the last two weekends (both spent out on town, on trips planned before the whole "new job" thing happened....)

Friday Night: Flew into BWI and was picked up by the lovely and charming jeskaradia. headed back to her and liz's place (VERY nice, btw). got mr. chen's organic chinese food (tasty!) on the way to the boy's apartment. met boy (i approve!) and a couple other of their friends. I headed out to Dupont for a little gathering of wellesley people, while they went to a club. met up with Jen in Dupont and walked to the bar to meet Pam, Christina, Stephanie, AmyJo, and Jenny Gregory, plus a few others. hung out for awhile. walked back to Dupont in the pouring rain. met up with the little sisters back at boy's apartment. drove home to Rockville. SLEEP.
Saturday: slept late. got up and had pancakes. were lazy around the apartment all afternoon. drove into the city. met up with Chris near the zoo and went out to Arlington to see her place/meet her kitty. dinner. then out with Sarah Jane and William (and Chris and Jen) to celebrate the new-job-getting. 2 beers at dinner + 2 beers at the first bar + 3 or 4 (I don't really remember) at the 2nd bar ($12-all-you-can-drink-draughts-til-1-am) makes for a very "happy" emblebug. and a dancing on a bench emblebug. got back home to Rockville about 3:30ish, I think. SLEEP again.
Sunday: woke up with a bitch of a hangover. again with the being lazy around the apartment. went to airport. flew home (not recommended while hungover) on flight with LOTS of screaming kids.

last week: doctor's appointment and two rounds of having blood drawn. we'll have to wait and see what's wrong with me. (go ahead, erika.) took katie out for her birthday to Elephant Walk on Thursday night. it was quite tasty.

Friday: got up at 4:30am to pack and stuff to be at South Station for a 7am bus. Watched Freaky Friday on the bus, and didn't sleep much (the man next to me was snoring most of the way). Arrived at Port Authority about 20 minutes early, hurried up to the Upper East Side to meet people to see an apartment at 12:30 (I was super early so I explored the area a little bit). Saw the apartment (won't be pursuing it though, for a number of reasons). Headed downtown and to Brooklyn to Karen's apartment (made great time). Had some very fresh-baked cornbread and banana bread. Hung around. Made plans to have pizza at Grimaldi's for dinner with K's high-school friend David. GOOD PIZZA. followed by Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory ice cream, also GOOD. (the vanilla chocolate chunk has BIG CHUNKS of scharffen berger chocolate in it.) headed into manhattan to meet up with Becca (best friend from kindergarten) and sholladay for margaritas and sangria. home. bed.
Saturday: got up and made pancakes for breakfast. headed out to the Guggenheim (K had never been, I wanted to see the Boccioni show). definitely some "weird" art installed there at the moment. wandered around the UES looking for lunch. settled on Wildgreen Cafe (corner of 3rd and 87th? 88th?). okay wrap, GOOD COOKIES. walked down to 85th to see another apartment. REALLY WANT THIS APARTMENT (see more below). headed back to Brooklyn to do work, rest up, etc. K did school stuff, I did practice math problems. ick. made dinner. then headed in for the most important part of the weekend: INDIGO GIRLS AT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL such a good concert. so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so good. Emily looked quite hot in leather pants, and Amy, well, Amy always looks hot. after the concert, walked from RCMH down to 34th to meet up with some wellesley/mit people for drinks at Bar 515. then, cabbed it over to chelsea to stand in line in the cold for an hour to get into Red Rock West (which, we are told, is one of the places that came before Coyote Ugly). watched some girls dance on the bar, had a very good shot of SoCo and lime (it's been a LONG time since I've had SoCo). left about 1:45ish to head home. came home. crashed.
Sunday: intended to sleep late, but was awakened by K's roommate arguing on her cell phone with her girlfriend. eh, it happens. got up, went out for bagels. headed to the west village to finally experience the wondefulness that is Magnolia Bakery. walked around the village, walked out to see the Hudson and wave at New Jersey. came home, picked up stuff, went back to Port Authority. came home.

that is my last two weeks in a nutshell. I'm actually going to be in Boston this coming weekend...not sure what I'm going to do with myself. oh, right, i'm going to start making piles of "things to throw away" and "things to try to sell" and "things to move to NY".

so, this apartment that I want. it's a 4th floor walkup on the UES -- 85th street and 3rd avenue. the apartment has a cat (BIG selling point right there!), and only 1 other roommate. it's a REAL (not converted) 2 bedroom, with a full-sized tub in the bathroom, and a small, but aedequate kitchen. small living area, room is probably 9x11? 8x11? enough to fit what I think I need, especially if I loft my bed. great neighborhood -- everything is right nearby, and the subway is just one block away. it's the upper end of my price range, but I totally think it's worth it. so, yeah, now I'm just waiting for them to make their decision. I hope they like me! (everyone, send good emily-apartment vibes, okay? it worked for bella_luna)

not much else going on at the moment, although I am NOT looking forward to the impending snow. ick ick ick.
