8.75/10

This episode was clearly a punch in the gut, a splash of cold water to let us know that things'll be different from now on. I got the message, loud and clear. That last shot of the home video with Jonathan smiling and waving at the camera was stunning.

Tom was marvelous, once again. The clincher was, without a doubt, the last scene. He portrays Clark's grief so openly and poignantly. The image of him leaning on Annette's shoulder and sobbing is one that will stay with me forever.

Clark opening up to Lana was a beautiful surprise, as was Lana's gift. Her retrieval of the watch was a wonderfully romantic and classy gesture. I'm glad to see things between them aren't too awkward, despite the breakup. Lana's someone who can truly understand and sympathize with the battle Clark's enduring right now. He needs her, and they both know it.

Another standout moment for me was Chloe and Clark trying to get Andrea's attention in the alley. Chloe's transition from damsel in distress to fed up actress was hysterical.

The FOTW plot was a tad iffy, but ultimately, it was an effective metaphor for Clark's situation. The producers are handling his loss "Smallville" style: using extraordinary circumstances to illustrate ordinary ones.

This show slays me, week after week after week. I wouldn't have it any other way. I am so very proud and so very honored. Other shows will come and go, but "Smallville" is truly Super.
