7/10

Overall, Cyborg was lackluster and missed the edge any superhero-themed episode should have. The last quarter saved it from being totally mediocre. Let's hope the writers aren't losing steam.

The scene where Clark and Lana switched their focuses from Victor and Catherine to each other was immensely bittersweet...one of their most angst-ridden moments, in my opinion. Kristin and Tom played it beautifully.

What a lovely, stunning conclusion. The return to classical music was fantastic (although I woulda liked to hear someone with a nicer timbre), and John and Annette were superb. That last line will surely go down in history as one of "Smallville"'s finest.

I almost feel like they purposely programmed the episode this way. The juxtaposition of such poor content followed by a phenomenal ending creates an effect that is nothing short of astounding. It's a roundabout way of making magic, but I'll take it!

I hope they let go of this formula where they explore another soon-to-be superhero for 43 minutes. I watch the show for Clark, for Lana, for Lex, for nearly everyone else. Yes, the destination is a great one, but Clark's journey is what I care about. Speaking of comic book characters, where the hell is Shelby? Good God, it's been forever.
