We've all been swindled blind. Democracy has sailed far away and the American Dream is on its death bed. The US has less than a third of the unions it had thirty years ago. Without unions we have no democratic representation in an economic context. The Mexican immigrant is the new American slave negro. As Americans all we have is our relentless ( Read more... )

psst, not like it helps solve the world problems or anything, but we have alot more big bombs, and a MUCH bigger military spending budget... should china ever demand its debt paid, we could just bomb them... :P

china couldn't call in the debts. while it would make them the new superpower it would also destroy the global market. they would rule over nothing. supply side economics do work in a weird sort of way. it's not a very safe way but it works nonetheless. bush and his cronies will be thrown out sooner rather than later but do americans really care enough to change the system? not really. perhaps we need another bush in the white house to make things really really bad. maybe then people will wake up. the real problem isn't politics or economics or religion. the real problem is oil. we have less than a hundred years to figure out something to replace it with or any sort of change in the world won't matter anyway.

or at least that's my response. what do you think?

china has 1.3 billion people in it. about one third of which will have enough money to go out and buy a car during the next couple of years, they have already seen a huge jump in auto sales in china. china's middle class is exploding, while ours in the US is whithering up. There will be plenty of consumers in their market, rendering american middle class consumers obsolete. it would be a mistake to underestimate china.

american consumers dont care about the consequences of their governments actions mostly because they don't suffer from them. plainly put, we the citizens of this nation, are force fed the benefits of imperialistic war conquered nation slavery. with the civil rights movement derailed, the best we can do is whine about it like spoiled children.

don't even get me started on the end of oil.

you forget about china's system of government. it is quicker to change than we are. china must be aware of the oil problem and be much more willing to take it on than us (since we've been entrenched in the oil war for a hundred years). also, our middle class was doomed to disappear. it was created in a freak accident by ww2 and the gi bill. that doesn't mean we can't sustain it though and it doesn't mean that the next formed government (since it will soon swing back to the democrats) won't be able to fix what bush and his cronies have done. it is true americans have been very shielded. i don't know what to do about that. and the end of oil scares me to fucking death. i've become very interested in biodiesel and alternative energies and figuring out a way to survive.
