A pair of young men, both of them handsome in an otherworldly way dash past just then one of them looking up and grinning. "Hello there," he calls out a little louder then he needs to.

Alex snorts. "You sound like the king and queen always telling us what the Fae should and should not do."

"They are our king and queen for a reason. That is what father has always said."

[madness_ismine]

"They are old and it shows."

[embre_flame]

Embre's eyes flash open wide. "You can be exiled for saying things like that!"

And hey look, she's going to climb farther away from you now.

Alex makes a dismissive noise. "Who will tell on me...you?"

[embre_flame]

"Of course not!" She growls, climbing even higher. "But I will not be near you if you insist on speaking like that. It is treason!"

[madness_ismine]

"Our laws are old and will one day get the king into trouble."

[embre_flame]

"And you intend to be there to say I told you so, is that it?"

[madness_ismine]

"Perhaps," Alex says noncommittally, "right now I have no reason to stay for that."

Embre looks down at him, scowling even more. "You should be concerning yourself with more pressing matters than being right."

Alex grins wickedly. "But being right is so much more fun then being wrong," he says,

"You are such a child." Embre spits, climbing even farther away from him. "Does it even matter to you the responsibility you will soon have?"

[madness_ismine]

"No," Alex says, "my responsibility is months away yet It's the last thing I'm thinking of. Besides I've got someone else on my mind."

Months. He knows as well as she does that's a blink of an eye to their kind. What happened to preparedness, strategy and planning?

"Your mind should be on your duty, Sir Almost Guide." Embre says, an air of jealousy in her voice.

If she was to become a guide, she wouldn't be wasting her time like...like this.

Alex laughs. "Why do you care so much about my duty," he says, "it almost sounds like you think I matter."
