I think that this is, perhaps, the best possible time for me to be writing about something semi-important. It's April Fool's Day. There's a lot going on in the HP fandom. Jokes. Pranks. Everything in honor of Fred and George Weasley. As such, it's more likely that I'll get a clickthru to my blog than I would on a normal day.

"There's a legend at school about a guy who was working up some freelance cd art for a local band. The band was about to get a record deal and all that and wanted to present a formal cd with their demos. The lost the deal because the music rep recognized the stolen art."

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I WROTE THIS.

I am so afraid of this happening to a wizard rock band, all of whom I consider my friends, or some of the writers I know, just because they don't think to be cautious of it.

"But what do I know? I only go to art school and will spend the rest of my life in art and suing people for stealing my stuff."

I would do the same. And I do like pushing your buttons, if only to show that there are more than a handful of people willing to take a stand over something that isn't right. What can I say. Whompy inspired me.

We just had a question at work where an author asked if it's ok to use clipart in their article's figures, and we had to ask our in-house illustrator to draw the image the author needed instead because using clipart for something that was going to be published would be all sorts of not-good.

Hahaha. "All sorts of not good" is right. It really is something a lot of people don't understand or even think of. Whenever we design something at work, my parents'll pull something up off of the internet and be like, "We can use this wherever, it says!" And I'm the only one to notice fine print like, "Must be accompanied by the artist's name," and so on =)
