My son went missing at 9:30 pm Sunday night.

He’d gone snowmobiling with friends on Sunday afternoon and they had set up a bonfire on the other side of the lake and proceeded to get pissed. At 9:30 pm Geoff took off alone, drunk, heading across the lake. The friends decamped and crossed the lake to home a little while later. Geoff wasn’t there when they got back but his truck was still there ( Read more... )

OMG! What a terrible ordeal you suffered through. *big hugs* Thank God that your son is OK. I guess Christmas came early for your family this year. I'm so glad!

Thanks for the hug. Just when you think you have no faith in a higher being, you start praying anyway.

All I can do is echo Jaye's OMG! It never ends, does it? I have a 19-year-old son who's done a few dumb things in his time (not recently, but I'm probably due). I used to think that once they got to a certain age, they stopped screwing up and you stopped worrying about them. I know now that's not the case. Especially with boys (at least in my experience), who have a tendency to think they're immune to the dangers that befall others. My son's favorite line is, "Don't worry! Trust me!" That's when I really start to worry!

So glad everything turned out OK. I'm glad the lesson got learned without any permanent damage.

I love that expression, and like you it's when I worry the most!
I just wanted to smack him and hug him at the same time. Damn infuriating boys!

So glad to hear he was safe. You can tell him the new gray hairs are due to him. Hopefully, this will keep him from being so unsafe with himself again... but he's 19. We all made mistakes then, and luckily (most of us) lived to tell the tale.

It can be sobering to realize how much we worry those we love. I hope he doesn't put you through this again.

He's 20, he'll be 21 in January. Thanks for your concern.

Sorry for the mistake in age. I'm sure he's a responsible boy, normally. We all made stupid mistakes when we were younger, and learned from them. I'm sure he will, too.

OMG,OMG! When I started reading your story, I was really hoping you'd end it with good news. Holy brother! Thank God he is all right. I'm certain he won't do anything like that ever again :))

I always figured parenting ended when they hit a certain age LOL! or at least the worrying about them. He was so amazed at his own lack of judgement I think he scared himself.

You and me both. I don't think I've ever seen my husband like that in all the years I've known him.
