And the fact that Clark Kent, as a character, has been presented consistently as this man who considers all the women in his life equals really, really gets to me about this narrative.

In a genre where women are often treated as afterthoughts....Smallville gave us a protagonist who respected the women in his life, treated them as equals and loved them completely. Whether it was his mother, his friends, his first love in Lana or now his wife. And I love that and respect that in ways that I can't even fully explain. It's so rare in the entertainment landscape.
