An Ollie Playlist

Nov 18, 2009 09:10

Sooooo, the player of Carol said that if I made her an Ollie playlist, I could have "I'm too sexy for my shirt" be Ollie's quote in her info page.

Okay! I'll do anything for Right Said Fred. I've never made a playlist before, so I have no idea if there's supposed to be some sort of theme or a good flow of songs or whatnot.

1. "The Star-Spangled Banner" - Jimi Hendrix

I am of the opinion that, if Ollie were alive and old enough in 1969 (which he was, but hey) he'd have been at Woodstock. Ollie believes in almost everything that Woodstock stood for, and he dreams that America can one day be the kind of place where that vision is a reality.

2. "Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan

This is the beginning of Ollie's story. Also this is the original 45. It's worth listening to.

3. "The Rising" - Bruce Springstein

Sometimes Ollie feels old. But it doesn't stop him.

4. "Cat's in the Cradle" - Harry Chapin

Also, sometimes Ollie feels like a terrible dad. Because, well. He was.

5. "Lean on Me - Bill Withers

But sometimes he's a pretty good guy to lean on.

6. "Use Somebody" - Kings of Leon

The first two lines of this song really epitomize being a masked adventurer: "I've been roamin' around, always lookin' down at all I see./Painted faces fill the places I can't reach." Ollie doesn't like doing the solo thing. Whether it's Roy, Hal, Connor, Mia, Dinah, Carol... or the entire JLA, for as much as he might puff up his chest, he prefers the team aspect of heroing.

7. "With a Little Help from My Friends - The Beatles

Ollie wouldn't be anyone without his friends, especially those in the JLA.

8. "You Give Love a Bad Name" - Bon Jovi

I feel like this version of Ollie was into hair bands in the 80s, even if he won't admit it. Also, he hasn't been so good at relationships (mostly that one with Dinah...).

9. "Flesh" - Aerosmith

This is one of the lesser-known singles off of Get a Grip. Not one of their best, but I loved the double-entendre when I was a teenager. Ollie loves it as an adult. Also, Aerosmith is Carol's favorite band, and they have a lot of sex.

10. "Shook Me All Night Long" - AC/DC

A better song with double entendre.

11. Over the Hills and Far Away" - Led Zeppelin

I think Zeppelin might be Ollie's favorite band. Anyway, this song is a good synopsis of Ollie's mindset. Also it rocks. I chose this live version because it's near where my sister lives. :)

12. Bonus Track: ""Oo-De-Lally" - Roger Miller/Disney's Robin Hood

This one's for Lian. :)
