Ah, winter

Jan 07, 2010 14:17

So today was a semi-remarkable event - not 'remarkable' in that it's so unusual, but 'remarkable' in that I am remarking on it because it was the first (this semester) of what will doubtless be many. Today was the first morning where it was cold enough that, when you went outside and took a nice deep breath, all your nose hairs froze instantly. May ( Read more... )

... That sounds very cold indeed ._. Now I feel like a wimp for being all bundled up in a scarf and hat down here where it gets, like, maybe 40 in the dead of night.

Get some pronunciation help audio/video? Youtube might have some stuff. Otherwise, this is the one we used when I was in French and I thought it was pretty helpful :)

Also, since you're not on IM right now and I know I'll forget in five minutes, you were asking about the RP journal I saw for that tree character in that book whose name I don't recall? I found it: http://have-wanderlust.livejournal.com/

Oh, it is very cold indeed. It was -17 that morning, as I recall. And that's really not the coldest I've ever felt it up here. Also it was nice because I didn't have class until 9:00 so I didn't have to leave the house at like 7 when it was pretty much still dark, and thus even colder.

\o/

Also YES. YES HAH. Filif I thought that was his name. :>

I love that tree. I love that series in general. If y'all haven't read it, you should. I'm sure I've mentioned this before.

Oh also that book looks potentially quite helpful, the only thing is that uh. I've already spent $259(.64) on books for French, so uh. Not sure if I really wanna go spending more. I mean I have art supplies that need buying too, some of which are pencils that are worth their weight in platinum, I swear this is true.

Also also /gasp

She has a livejournal?????

Okay I lied, I checked and apparently it was more like 29 degrees last night here. THIS COLD SNAP IS THROWING ME OFF ಠ_ಠ But at least I'm not as huge of a wimp as I thought.

... If it wasn't super creepy to ask for your address, I'd just mail my copy to you. I was gonna try and sell it anyway. And HOW DO YOU SPEND THAT MUCH ON BOOKS FOR ONE CLASS, WOMAN. Just buy used on amazon, seriously.

Also: apparently! I originally found the link to that thread in a zenmeme discussion where someone was like "Hey, how awkward would it feel to know the creator of your character had read your RP journal, huh?" and someone else went "Weeeeell... *link*"

/MOCKS INDEFINITELY FOR BEING A WIMP

BECAUSE I HAD TO BUY ALL OF MY BOOKS NEW, THAT'S WHY. ;_; Workbook with rip-out sheets and a book that was published in 09 and is packaged shrink wrapped with these language cds. Somehow this added up to the better part of $300. And I dunno maybe you could mail me the book for my birthday or something. It is tomorrow, after all. Just know I draw the line at anthrax. *laughs*

Luckily all of the books for all of the rest of my classes COMBINED only cost like $44 (I still have no idea how French could possibly cost as much as it did) which only leaves art supplies. Like pencils that are worth their weight in solid gold, say.

That Filif journal is seriously tempting me to make one for Fred. I mean I already kinda WANT to make one for Ed, so it's just like. Multiple temptations now.
