The Man Trap

Jan 16, 2010 20:49

Thus begins the theoretical rewatch which is suddenly totally not at all theoretical.

MAN I NEED TO USE MY TIME BETTER but on the positive side, I've started drawing the 2 heads with muscles, so uh. There's something I guess?

Anyway - WARNING, SPOILERS.

I love this show. )

my fandom is older than yours, i really need a life, things no one cares about

Whew, Kirk is mean in this one. He gets angry just because McCoy is thinking of Nancy too much. He`s the womanizer but in this episode he seems absolutely annoyed that McCoy has a love interest on duty. *strange*

Btw. I love Crater. He`s so smart and doesn`t allowed Starfleet to do anything they want with him! I like that!

In his defense, Kirk pretty consistently ALWAYS puts the Enterprise first. He likes to chase everything female and biped from Earth or any other planet, sure, but the safety of his ship and crew are always his priority.

I just found it funny how everybody saw the creature as a very hot guy/girl, but Kirk who everybody somehow thinks of as a womanizer (I'm actually a bit reserved on that) sees her as a woman who looks like she could be his mom/aunt/teacher and totally treats her like that, no flirting at all (that I remember).

You know, it's true.

Kirk is pretty much a slut - you can't really deny that - but he doesn't really objectify women. It's kind of an odd combination, but hey! Whatever works.

I thought they all saw her as what her true age should be (around McCoy's), and only McCoy saw her as "not looking a day older."

McCoy saw Nancy as he remembered her, which was young with dark hair, Kirk saw her as middle aged, and then the third guy who died almost instantly saw her as a young blonde chick (with FABULOUS 60s hair) who reminded him of a girl from this pleasure planet who he'd left behind.

So basically, Kirk was the only one to see her as the age that she should be.

... at least until it decided to stop showing different faces to different people at the same time, but. you know.

Watching that episode is a vivid childhood memory for me. Seeing the monster was truly terrifying to a 5 year old. I hid behind the TV where it was safe.

It's very true, but it's not entirely just that. He looks very different, and more that just 'he got old' way. idk, possibly I'm reading too much into things. But. Still.

As for Sulu, he's known for fencing, but I don't remember the botany thing coming up again.

Possibly it does in Shore Leave. idk. The yeoman comment comes from what two other crewmen say when she's carrying Sulu his food, it's something like 'How would you like to have her be your personal yeoman?'
