This is what I got with my tax return. 50" Samsung Plasma.
I was going to go with either a 65" or 73" rear projection tv to replace the one we have now, but I was told my brother-in-law had bought some parts for it and he's gonna try and fix it when they come down to visit this summer. So instead I decided to go with a plasma. It was either this or a similar model by Panasonic. Both had pretty good reviews and looked good when I saw them in person. Basically it came down to two things, one, the Samsung uses a lot more power than the Panasonic, but was a few hundred dollars cheaper, so basically it came down to price. I don't plan on using it too too often so, I went with the Samsung.
It spent a couple of days in the basement because I didn't have anyone around to help bring it upstairs and I couldn't do it by myself, but I finally did today, put in the Blu-Ray of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist on there, then played a few rounds of Street Fighter 4, and now I'm watching the BR of John Mayer: Where the Light Is. I'm so impressed with it, it looks pretty great on it! So basically I'm glad I got it.
