Late Night Romantic

This was suipposed to be a 100 word drabble for a prompt I was given last night. Unfortunately, it passed 100 words and did not even touch the prompt. I also ran out of steam before I finished, so it's just pointless fluff. Anyway, Morg. Hope you enjoy.

When Simon got home, Erika was already asleep. Not in bed as she should have been, but at her desk with her face nestled into a sizable pile of manilla folders. Simon smiled a bit despite himself- she always denied waiting up for him, but it seemed that late-night paperwork was reserved solely for when he got caught up at his office.

Quietly, Simon kicked off his shoes and hung his coat up. She looked so content, laying there, her head tilted and exposing the expanse of her neck. Her hair was still pulled into a bun for the most part, but time and gravity had done their job to pull enough of the wispy strands out to obscure her face. He brushed a few from her neck and leaned in to kiss the smooth skin. His lips were slightly chapped, but gentle and warm. As he trailed soft kisses up to her jaw line, a slow smile spread across her face.

"Just finishing some work," she pointed out, but made no move to get up. She was obviously enjoying the attention. Simon's wordless response was to ease her into a sitting position and spin her computer chair to face him. From there, he leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips.

She gave a small laugh when he put one knee along side her thigh on the chair. Without a word, he began scooting them down the hall toward the bedroom. Erika giggled as their noses bumped and Simon was forced to break the kiss lest someone lose a tooth. He smiled down at her with a sheepish blush as they drifted around a corner, stopping just before they hit the bed.

“End of the line, Miss,” he said, but without the conviction necessary to sound like a train conductor.

erika, prompt, simon
