Once again you demonstrate how less can indeed be more--I don't know who Harper is, but he intrigues me. Your description of his drinking is very vivid-and very easy for me to imagine. I can practically hear the ice clinking against the glass, and combined with the ticking of the clock, the overall effect is solitude, maybe even loneliness. The ring of whiskey forming a frown is also effective, and again, tag-teaming it with the accusing clock, the effect is also one of disapproval or even disdain.
I don't know what Harper is going through, but your writing allows the reader to empathize with him to some degree or other. Nicely done. I don't know why, but the phrases at the beginning "Casually. Coolly. To collect his thoughts."--the use of words beginning with "c" link the fragments together rather snugly.

You have read something with him before. Jonathon Harper is the character that had the confrontation with his wife in the park.

I'm glad you liked it/picked up on little details. Thanks again for the concrit.
