A real update at last.

Today is warm, but raining and gray. It's been a slow paced and lazy sort of day, but I managed to catch a cold two days ago and have been fighting it with tea and honey since. Even as I'm writing this, we're on our third pot of tea in the past two hours. My throat no longer hurts (thank goodness) but it itches now, and my ears are pretty clogged. All in all I'm doing alright.

Anne and I got a bit of a late start today, as the trend has been for the majority of the trip. Rather than acclimating to the timezone here, I believe that I have dragged Anne into Chicago time. Last night we went to bed at five AM and we woke up at one in the afternoon. Oops? Either way, the weather is nothing to write home about, though I believe that the streets look pretty when they're wet.

I met one of Anne's friends today in a large but cozy (and three story high?) coffee shop called Bagels & Beans. We were both dressed to the nines in cute dresses and high heels with cardigans for warmth. It wasn't until half way through my cup of coffee that it started raining and both Anne and I wished that we had brought jackets of some kind. Still, we enjoyed a round of comfortable conversation about love and experiences and other, less heavy things. We spoke of zombies and Harry Potter. I received a kiss on the cheek as a farewell present, though apparently the custom is a series of three. I'll master it eventually.

After coffee, we remounted our bikes and rode through the rain to a market that sells British and American things in search of cream soda. We found none. We rode once more into the rain. Bike lanes are everywhere here-- even cute little left-turn bike lanes.

We got home dripping wet and cold and took turns showering with soap that smells like alcohol. While Anne showered, I lit candles and put the water on for tea. Not being able to read what any of the teas were and not being able to figure out what they were by smell do to my stuffed nose, I picked one randomly. It turned out to be chocolate. Absolutely delicious, but rather strange to drink along side the garlic pasta dish I made for dinner. Cést la vie, I suppose.

Soon, I hope to upload the pictures I took on previous days and recount the events contained within. There have been picnics, Vietnamese food, movies, and the single most amazing amusement park in existance.

Until next time!
