I've been neglecting my LJ for a very loooong time. And I mean a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGG time. I can't remember the last time I checked it, but it's not letting me view my friends' entries very far back at all so I guess I'm completely out of the loop. Not like I was ever in the loop to begin with. What the hell does that MEAN anyway?
As my DA journals may have implied, I moved to Florida to live with my boyfriend, Frank, and his elderly mother. I don't have a job, though not really for lack of trying. As it stands the only car belongs to his mom, and she doesn't want either of us to get jobs outside of a ten mile radius because of gas prices (which is really a bullshit excuse). Her car's a beat-up piece of shit anyway so I don't think it'd last driving somewhere and back on a daily basis for more than a week. Right now we're living off of Frank's disability and his mom's retirement funds- they're mostly for bills though. It's kind of a mess: we can't get a job unless we have a car of our own, and we can't get a car because we have no jobs! Frank has a plan for saving up to get a used car that can at least get us to work and back on a daily basis.
My severe (but thankfully sporadic) jaw pain has been diagnosed as TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder), caused by the braces I had when I was 15. Apparently they caused my teeth- and thus my bite and jaw alignment- to shift around, which at first only caused clicking but eventually lead to pain. I got to see an X-ray of my teeth and saw that the roots are at odd angles, some of them being damaged.
It was a disaster trying to figure out what to do about it. I finally found a specialist who can treat it, buuuuut it'll cost $1500 just to do one of the preliminary tests. I'd call bullshit, but we researched the treatment and found that it needs to be done. Essentially what they'll do is numb my nerves completely in order to figure out where my jaw is supposed to rest. Afterwards they'll make a mold of my teeth to be used in the making of a little retainer-like thing for me to wear for 2-4 years or more. The entire treatment will end up costing $15,000 over the course of several years. But that's the price I get to pay for having straight teeth :\ Until we can afford all of that, I'll have to settle for various prescription and otc painkillers.
I guess I'll leave the rest for some other time, when I can be bothered to sit down and type all this shit again.
So what's new with you guys? :D
