The ice must breaking up or something, because I made a thing today, after months of making no things.
I got out my heavy old sewing machine, a magnet bristling with pins, my shears, my cookie tin of threads, and an extra task light, and put two pieces of fabric together.
(
Just a big rectangle, but still. Making a thing. )

I just switched over to Dreamwidth and read all the comments on yesterday's post. Maybe now you've got the sewing machine and all the accompanying equipment out you could make yourself some of the floaty tops which someone recommended? And I love the idea of generating your own power by cycling!

I'm not sure I'll get back to sewing clothes, but I did just read the most lovely post from Jasika Nicole (famous as Astrid on "Fringe" and--surprise, surprise--a brilliant knitter and seamster) about the process of becoming a knitter. Her description of her journey has inspired me to revisit my own practice and find ways of improving.
