Sorry for these little short blurbs instead of a proper update like I promised, but I just have to say this...

The LJ community (and the world) has lost one of its members, a beautiful, intelligent, talented and kind soul who was known under the name kiota, but her name was Anna. Kiota AKA Anna took her life a few days ago. She was studying in the US ( Read more... )

You don't need to thank me for anything. Anna was a beautiful person inside and out whose courage and strength to make it through everything as long as she did inspired many people. Not only do the people who lost her need support and love right now, but we all need to do our part to make sure her legacy goes on.

*hugs* I hope that you're doing all right.

I've been looking at her journal. I'm so unbelievably sad right now.

The news is absolutely devastating, especially for the people who knew her personally. I followed her journal closely as well, even though I never got a chance to speak with her.

*hugs* Love you, honey.

Just running across this now, Kayla ... your words are beautiful and full of comfort.

Not sure how I missed adding you till now, [or maybe I did under another username??]... but, anyway, doing that. You'll read that I actually got to meet her at school during the last week of her life, and hang out and do stuff .... and that was a miracle that is staying with me each day. Friend of Lois, whose connection with Ki goes way way back before mine [which started 2005.]

Thank you, silverplate88, I really do appreciate it very much. I neither knew Kiota online or in real life, however I found the link to her journal through Lois and I followed her story throughout the last two years or so. We may have spoken briefly once via comments, but I don't remember. Her death was shocking to me even though I didn't have the connection that you all did with her. It affected me a lot more than I anticipated it would, but I felt that to discuss my grief with others who knew her would be...disrespectful. I didn't think I had a place when so many people who knew her a lot better than the short glimpses into her life that I got ( ... )

No apology needed, Miss Emerald. [Love your username!] I only went Friends-Only because it quickly seemed that I was attracting some lovers of morbidity who had no connection either with LJ or with Kiota other than her death. So that was a quick way to block them.

Please come and ramble all you want, whenever you want. I'm here.

As I always am fond of saying: Kiota's legacy will never be forgotten and she will keep on living as long as she feels safe inside the space we create for her in our hearts. Doorless and peaceful spaces so she's free to come and go as she wills.

As Rachel Corrie's family also said: the world knows how she died but we know how she lived and studied to be a creative writer. So they published her work. Rachel and Ki were students on the same campus, walked the same walkways to the same classes, in fact. Just a few years apart.

I'm hopeful that at some future time Kiota's family will print some of her work too.
