I took a day off today, and - this is hardly surprising because it's me - the day promptly became an exercise in Retail Therapy. The madness that was Paris has barely passed...why oh why do these irresistible offers persist in getting in my face?

Here's what I bought:
1. A Canon all-in-one printer - MX328. Because my old one's kaput (it was a BJC-210 ( Read more... )

Hey ShaoAnn, not at all - well, the tagline for the Fair says that all artwork is priced b/w $100 and $10,000. I found that original paintings (around A4 size) started around $600 - $1,200. larger pieces were 2K - 5K. Stuff over 6K was quite rare. Under $600, you'll find digital art and special / limited prints. There's also a selection of glass art, etchings and sculpture.

However, as the three pieces I bought were real mini ones (size of a 5R photo each), they were going at $70 each, and Susanna let me have all three for $200 - she may have run out of them though. I was her first customer, but two more people made enquiries and then quickly bought some for themselves. She had about 12 such pieces in all.

I do encourage art lovers to go as there are a great number of local and Asia-based galleries participating this year, and a good variety of works from different genres. The real enjoyment lies in chatting with each artist and gallery owner.

Why did you get the all-in-1 printer only now? Since it was already out so long ago..

Lol - I know that lah - read the full post?

I'm not a fan of technology. So long as it works and serves my purposes, I'm happy. I don't change an appliance unless it's really broken. I still use an old cathode ray TV as it is in perfect working condition. I suppose it stems from knowing that no matter how much money I throw, whatever I can buy will become outdated within the next half a year. Since I can't be assured that I'll have the best of something for life - and believe you me, I am willing to pay top dollar for a computer if I can be assured it'll automatically stay abreast of the latest technological developments for a lifetime - I am deliberately "switched off" over techno stuff and just keep myself minimally informed.

Conversely, I LOVE and collect well-made antiques - they just look better with more use and appreciate in value over the years.

ehh... i did not read the full post, but just the para that teases urself on getting the printer that's out years ago.

I was just puzzled that, if you really need the all-in-1 printer, you could have gotten it a few years ago when the prices have gone down..

To me, it just sounds like, you want to get a nokia small screen phone, when smartphones are the hot stuff these days.. lol..

yeah, antiques become assets once you got your hands on them!
