Hmm, how to explain..

A conservatory is basically a college for music. Generally very prestigious, very intense, focused, etc. It's the type of school I'll be going to next year. A lot of people confuse this with trade schools, which are vocational schools, usually for either high school dropouts or people who aren't good enough to get into a college or university. You generally will get an internship/apprenticeship kind of deal in a crappy field, and get some sort of certification (not an actual degree). A conservatory is a real college, you get a real degree, and it's actually harder to get into than other colleges (you have to be smart AND talented).
