The Wong Way was all second semester, after I left. This makes me depressed. :(

Also, separately, TV tuners are cheap and fans are cheaper (assuming you install it yourself and don't pay to have it installed). LCDs are, obviously, not cheap. But unless your computer is really outdated it doesn't necessitate a new computer. What are you planning on using it for?

My computer is old, but it was new at the time so its really not that bad.

AMD Athalon XP 2.13 ghz
521MB memory (I can add more easily though)
NVIDIA GeForce 5200 with a dead fan (in fact its groaning at me as I type)

I don't need the best graphics card, and I have 2 hard drives. So I think I'm just going to get some new fans and tv tuner card.

Then I will get an LCD monitor, turn my stereo into a subwoofer, and get 3 additional speakers for amazing surround soundness.

Oh, add in a new sound card.

Adding another half gig of ram wouldn't be a bad idea. With the card, you may as well buy a new one - the 5200 only runs about $30-40 and the fan would probably cost $20 at least.
A decent sound card can run you $30-60, with really nice ones ranging $150 and up. Creative's Audigy 4 line will get you what you want for $50-70.

if you plan on having a killer media pc, you can upgrade a preexisting one. it would really depend on the motherboard. it really depends on how much and what you are putting into it.

my crazy lithuanian friend just upgraded one with a $300 video card, 2 gigs of memory, 3 hard drives totaling around a terabyte and some other stuff that lets him connect it to his projector...his monitor has a 10ft diagonal.

THIS IS FOR CALEB'S FRIENDS....HE HAD HIS SURGERY ON FRIDAY AND HAD SOME COMPLICATIONS AFTER.HE IS CURRENTLY IN THE ICU @ STANFORD IN PALO ALTO.HE IS ON A VENTILATOR BUT HIS VITAL SIGNS ARE ALL STABLE AND HE IS BREATHING 30% ON HIS OWN. HE IS COHERENT AND RESPONDS WHEN WE HOLD HIS HAND OR TALK TO HIM AND OPENS HIS EYES,NODS TO ANSWER QUESTIONS,ETC...THEY ARE ONLY KEEPING HIM SEDATED BECAUSE WE ARE WAITING TO GET THE RESULTS FROM HIS BIOPSY TOMORROW SO THEY WILL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HE HAS AND IF IT WILL REQUIRE CHEMO OR RADIATION.THE TUMORS ARE COMPRESSING ON HIS LUNGS AND HEART CAUSING HIM TO BE UNABLE TO FULLY BREATHE ON HIS OWN. THE DOCTORS ARE TOTALLY POSITIVE THAT ONCE WE START TREATMENT THEY'LL BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE VENTILATOR AND HE WILL BEGIN TO PROGRESS AND RECOVER QUICKLY..OUR FAMILY IS POSITIVE AND WE KNOW HE WILL RECOVER FROM THIS PLEASE THINK POSITIVE AND PRAY FOR HIM.
