The author of that article, Sean Carroll, is also the author of a book I read about gravity. It's a fairly easy book, as it mainly uses the language of algebra, eg tensors, instead of the the more sophisticated language of geometry, eg forms (link). He also gave a seminar in my department, which I attended. He's a good writer and a good speaker ( ... )

Hey, thanks for the reply! I did think about it a bit more, and it does make more sense... Every time I read an article like this or get sucked into that Universe special on History, it's a lot of fun for a while and then I have to stop thinking about it. I'm sure it'd be nice to know everything, but then we'd have nothing to do, right? :)
