It's about a woman who loses her job at a department store and while she's searching for a new job, she sees someone leave a baby on the doorstep to an orphanage. She picks it up intending to just take it inside, but she gets mistaken for the mother and is sent home with the baby. Social services is concerned for the 'single mother' and contacts her former employer to take her back. It stars Ginger Rogers, David Niven, and has a guest appearance by Donald Duck. ;)

:) It's a sweet movie. You'll like it.

Everybody set your VCRs to record TCM on 7/12 at 4:30pm... this means esp. you Gidget and DWP and Jewels and well, just about everybody... because they are showing one of my favorite romantic comedies -- 'Bachelor Mother'.
M:**(Robert DeNiro voice) You talkin' to me?

(normal voice): Haven't seen that one. Katherine Hepburn, right?

Yeah, I'm talkin' to you.

Ginger Rogers, David Niven and a guest appearance by Donald Duck. I had been hoping you'd be able to catch this. I really think it might have been your kind of movie. Romantic, funny, deranged.

It had a lot of really great dialogue and absurd situations.

Ginger Rogers plays a working girl who finds a baby outside a foster home. She is subsequently mistaken for the mother and forced to take the baby.

In one scene, she gets tired of explaining to David Niven that she is not the mother, so she makes up a story about how she left the father because he used to beat her.

She points to a spot on her forehead -- that has absolutely no mark on it -- and says, "See this? Coffeepot!" And he pretends having seen something.

And it's so cute at the end when Niven's father -- who really, really wants to be a grandfather -- shouts, "I don't care who the father is, I'm the grandfather!!!!!"

:P Sad you didn't catch it. Ah well.

I probably don't get the same channels or times that your shows appear. You're right... I would have watched it.
