I made fruit butter with apples and buttercup squash overnight in the Crock Pot. I woke up at 4 a.m. so I got up to give it a stir and a taste test and I couldn't get back to sleep for a long time after that because I couldn't stop thinking about how good it was!

Then we ate it on yeast pancakes in the morning and it was a perfect autumn Sunday

Yeah, I need to get a big supply of apples. I definitely could go for some applesauce.

To make fruit butter do like I said with cooking the chopped fruit on the stove with some sugar and cinnamon (or whatever) and maybe some water. Most recipes say to puree the fruit or put it through a food mill or a sieve next, but I didn't puree mine; it just eventually cooked into a mash and then I used the egg beater on it (or a whisk would work). Anyway, then you put it in the oven at 325 until it's thick and spreadable (about an hour and fifteen minutes), stirring every 15 to 20 minutes.
