For the first time since college, he has one and given that he played lacrosse in college he was never able to go anywhere, so this is big for him! You may have just sold me on Old San Juan, PR. I looked at (and fell in love with) the El Convento last night. It's adorable, but it might be out of our price range...

I'm going to look into this one some more and send you my findings for approval, k?

xx

I have no experience with these locations save for an overnight in PR on our way home from the HM. I just wanted to say that it all sounds fabulous and I would love to go anywhere! I hear DR is okay as long as you stick to the resort.

em, we are going to an occidental resort for our honeymoon, and I have heard amazing things about all of them.... it looks fab from the website pics, but unfortunately I can't help much after that.... have you checked trip advisor and read some reviews?

A friend of mine went to the DR last year. They had fun, but she wouldn't recommend it.

Hi! I found your entry through arwc's journal, and thought I'd chime in. We haven't been yet, but Costa Rica and Belize are both on our short list of places to go. I don't know if airfare there is cheap, but they both look amazing. Costa Rica seems a little more adventurous than Belize, but everyone I've spoken to that has been to either location has loved it.
Also, have you ever checked out Budget Travel magazine (www.budgettravelonline.com)? They have some great tips for vacations on the cheap. In their Real Deals section, they have a bunch of last minute super deals. In their last issue, they also had a feature on secret locations in Costa Rica - some as cheap as $20/night that looked pretty awesome!
One final recommendation... There's a small Mexican town called Akumal, that's about an hour south of Cancun. My family has been going there for years, and it is awesome. For info, you can check out locogringo.com or akumalvacations.com.
Have fun planning your trip!!
