since it's been more than a month since i've posted anything (ouch), i'm having an update!
& Dunno if I posted this here, but the BF bought a house!! Can't move in yet, though. After a whole negotiation of contract with the previous owner, they came to the conclusion that the lady of the house gets to stay until the end of June (they've divorced), so summer holiday will mean moving most of my shit from one end of the province to the other (oh joy). We're not officially/permanently moving in together until I've graduated and have some sort of income (don't ask), but WE'RE MOVING IN TOGETHER!!
& The house is GORGEOUS! Not posting any pictures until she's moved out (whole privacy thing) but pictures will come! It's a suburb house, with garden, BIG kitchen, MASSIVE bathroom (srsly, walk-in shower and a bath tub, double sink AND dressing room), three bedrooms (not big, but big enough) and... A POOL!!! We first have to check is the heath collectors on the roof still work and if they're any maintenance to the pool that stays in the budget, but if all works well I CAN HAS A POOL IN MY GARDEN!! Think I'm quite possibly starting to know every furniture store in a 50 mile radius from Antwerp.
& Kris and I are doing well. Had some ups and downs, lately bit more downs (read: his parents) than ups, but we're getting through them. Relationships take work, they say and they sure do. But we're still all good :)
& School's going... not bad, actually. Busy busy busy, but so far so good. It used to be papers papers and more papers about books when I was doing linguistics. Now, it's papers papers and more papers about movies, research into old movie stuff (going to archives and leaf through paperwork from 70 years ago in Dutch AND French... I'm rocking the French!) and a visual essay. Variation, which I surprisingly like more than staying indoors the whole day every day reading and researching behind a laptop. Had to put the thesis on hold for a few weeks (research takes time, yo!), but there's a schedule I hope will suffice to get everything done before every deadline.
& Had NO failing grades in January (YAY ME!!), so, if I make all the deadlines for this semester and do well on the ONE exam in June, i might even graduate my Master's in June! It's never happend that I had no resits in August, so GO ME!!
& some shows:
* I'm going through Dead Like Me. Loving it, but understand why they've only made 2 seasons and a movie. It's the type of show that can't go one forever. There's only so many different times to let people die and not have it get old. I'm sensing the lack of inspiration even now, about five episodes until the end of s2.
* Also watching Camelot. I'm having an Eva Green crush. Very likely the most interesting character I've seen in a while (and I normally don't ever root for the baddies in tv shows/movies). Joseph Fiennes's Merlin is LOADS more interesting than what'shisname he played in... can't even remember the name. Not a massive fan of Arthur (little bit too much like the BBC's teen Arthur), but can't love every character, I guess. As long as the Morgan/Merlin dynamic stays, I'm gonna keep watching.
* Surprisingly also loving Hellcats, which has all the elements to be considered a silly show, if it wasn't so good. It's got good plotting, good interesting characters, great songs and succeeds where Make It Or Break It went awfully wrong: the drama gets solved and does not make most of the show after the first season. I did really like MioBi. It was surprisingly interesting for a show about teenage gymnasts. But then the teen drama show became nothing but teen drama.* Hawaii O Five: Alex O'Pretty :) Usually get tired relatively quickly of cop shows. So far, the new setting is keeping me interested. I'm calling it a mix between Baywatch Hawaii and CSI:NY, without the swimsuits or hard forensic stuff. * watching Mildred Pierce. No idea why, actually, but I'm liking it so far. I don't usually go for this type of period stuff, but this one's keeping me interested. and it was about time I started watching some HBO (No, I will not watch Boardwalk Empire, no matter how many grammy awards it got)
* started watching The Kennedys. Stopped after half an hour. The reason why I don't normally do period stuff. Got bored.
* excited for the new Doctor Who to start end this month (not far from my Bday!! Lovely Bday pressy XD). Said I wouldn't ever watch Torchwood again, after the fuck-up from last season/episode week, but of course I'm secretely looking forward to see what comes next, even though it's become half American).
& movies: since I'm a filmstudent, my list is quite extensive and I honestly can't remember each and ever movie I've watched in the last couple of months, but at the top of my head...
* Citizen Kane: the surpirse of the century. Never thought I'd actually like an old movie, but this one srsly is not bad! Surprised myself I went through the whole movie in one sitting (it's a two-hour movie)
* three animations: Tangled, How to Train Your Dragon and Toy Story 3: one's my favorite Princess movie, the other my favorite animation tout court. How much I adore HTTYD. Was a bit hesitant to watch the new Toy Story since I wasn't a fan of nr2 at all. But it's not bad. Loads better than nr2, at least.
* Sucker Punch: wow, how shallow can a movie be? It's basically a teenage anime boy's wet dream.
* think we had to watch about seven different Hitchcock movies and basically, they're ALL the same. Not my genre.* I know everyone's all high and crazy about Black Swan and yes, it's got very good acting (the oscar is definitely deserved) but if it's not your genre, it's not. And it's not my genre. Watched it because everyone was on about it, but I honestly didn't really like it.
* The King's Speech on the other hand is BRILLIANT! Could've been a very boring movie, but the movie truly captivated me from beginning to end. Oscars very much deserved.
* The Social Network: don't even get me started on that movie. I didn't like it, let's leave it at that. American superficiality at best and not one likeable character.
I'm sure there's more movies I've already forgotten about. Might edit this post when I come up with more when it's not almost midnight.
Last thought: I know some people have resented me for this, to a point where I felt they blamed me. I don't do fandom anymore. I don't even get fandom anymore. Yes, I still watch shows, but because they've got a good story, interesting characters, yes, even pretty boys, but I do not watch shows so I can later rant about "this character did this and this and this and OMG he did that." or "that dude said that and OMG I must share these feelings with everyone in the world!". This has cost my what I thought three years ago to be my best friend, because I grew up. I got a life outside of fandom, outside of the internet, outside of my house and apparently, that was too big of a change in my character. Well, sorry if I grew up. Sorry if my life turned into the real world, where I can't stay cooped up in my room all day anymore reading fanfiction and watching tv shows. This has been bugging me for so long now, and honestly, I'm sick of it. I'm sick of feeling like it's my fault that we're not best friends anymore. And don't give me that about "we've simply grown apart." Yes, i got another life, but a friend would understand that and be happy for me. Not dinstance herself for the last three years because she can't handle me being real or different. I like my life now. I'm happier now than I was back then, because I have a life. And I wanted you in it, but you obviously don't. Fandom started our friendship. Fandom ruined it.
For those of you who want to unfriend me because I've stopped caring about fandom, go right ahead. I won't be bothered.
This was it. Turned out a bit bigger than expected, but this is me, so far
*kicks LJ for messing with her post this time of night*
