people in previous centuries seemed to manage just fine with the presence of the occasional mumps outbreak.

today's society is just a big bunch of wimps, spoiled by their dependance on vaccines and whatnot.

haha yup, it's in Nebraska too

evidently those vaccines don't work as well as they thought. Lots of the cases are people who only had one of the two doses of the MMR, but LOTS of them had both doses and got mumps anyway.

If it makes you feel any better, there's an outbreak of stupidity in Evansville, and I'm pretty sure there is no vaccination for THAT, nor do people rarely overcome it.
