Bear Market

I am quite, quite schadenfreudlich at Bear Stearns's fall from grace today. I spent a few months in their employ, and left with the distinct impression that they were, not to put too fine a point on it, a bunch of jokers. A coffee table in the shape of a yin-yang symbol? Ikea has a nice one, I say hoping that everyone understands the joke.

how about a gold plated ying yang coffeetable/futon?
at least it will keep its value.

I'm not sold on gold as an investment. Commodities in general are probably a good idea, but unlike most commodities, gold isn't actually useful for very much. We dig it up out of the ground, refine it, then bury it again somewhere else and pay people to stand guard over it. Where's the sense in that? Might as well be buying big stones with holes in the middle at that point.
