[A somewhat strange sight can be seen on the lawn of 1671 Nelson Street: Mariya is practicing her kyūdō; she had recently regained the most basic necessities for it--a quiver, arrows, and the bow itself--and she is determined to not let her skills rust simply because she is away from school. The head of the archery club is an important position, ( Read more... )

[Mariya turns and bows.]

Thank you. I'm afraid I feel a bit rusty, however.

Well then, very impressive. I miss my own bow. Hand made and everything.

[He didn't have his rifle! He did have that machette sized Kukri on his person though.]

I just got a bit nostalgic watching you shoot.

Having this reminds me of home, so it gives me a little semblance of normalcy in this town.

[And Mariya is more than smart enough to have the most general idea of what Sniper does with his own bow.]

...I suppose it also makes me feel a bit safer, as well.

[Mariya keeps on shooting but then

weird sensation

as if she's being watched. But Mariya is used to that, knowing full well how her elegant and adorable appearance garners the stares of many people.]

[A bow! And arrows! These are things Zevran recognizes like old friends, and he can't help smiling as he approaches.] This is one of the few things I have seen since arriving here that is truly familiar. [Granted, there are definite differences in style between Japanese archery and his own, but he's not bothered by that at the moment.]

That's a bit drastic a reaction than most have to seeing me with this. I assume wherever you are from archery is much more commonplace?

Not only commonplace, but something I myself am quite good at. Though my bow and arrows seem to have been taken upon arrival with all the rest of my equipment, sadly.

That seems to be the standard. I had only recently received this much of my equipment back.

-... Oh ho. She knows that sound anywhere. And once she actually catches sight of the girl, there's a certain nostalgia seeing that gear.-

You've some talent for someone your age... then again I'm told they teach this as recreation in modern schools...

It is not standard for all schools, but, yes, I practice primarily for sport.

I suppose it's a statement of how peaceful the Earth has become if one only learns archery for sport.

Or perhaps a statement of how conceited it has become is better.

[Mariya will send four or five more arrows flying into the center of the target. She is more than comfortable with people watching.]
