A 'Homecoming dance'? What is that exactly?

'Homecoming' aside, it's just what it sounds: it's a party. People can come, with or without dates, mingle with others, enjoy food and drink, and, of course, dance.

I see.

[Yeah, was confused by the homecoming part.]

Where is this dance being held?

It will be at the school on October 1st. Anyone and everyone are free to attend.

A dance? Seriously?

[Yeah, she's not liking the sound of that. Dressing up and getting a d-d... guy to go with? No doubt she'll be dragged along by Misaka. But all those inner feelings are covered up by pure tsun.]

Of course. If the drones controlling the school want a homecoming party like any school would have, we may as well make the best of it.

Tch. You must really be starved of attention if you're looking forward to this.

I've never heard of such a thing.

It is a dance. A party. That's all.

. . . Who's coming home?

Reply

eminent_lady September 26 2010, 03:09:38 UTC
The tradition comes from simply 'welcoming students and alumni back to school'. So, the answer would be 'the students'.

a_gentle_boy September 26 2010, 03:14:35 UTC
. . . Oh. But I think we ought to call it something else since, um. None of us can really get home.

eminent_lady September 26 2010, 03:16:02 UTC
...

Well, the situational irony aside, the name isn't really in our control to change. We can just call it 'the dance', though, and even the drones will understand.
