Cam died first, beaten to death in an alleyway for a few measly credits and a cheap gold chain, blood splattered across stone and cloth and skin. Pain drove him mad; he should have died that day, but he didn't.
Neither did he die when Miranda reported the Normandy's - Shepard's - destruction. Cold regret gripped him, but a flick of a finger brought up the Lazarus plans.
He didn't even die when that same Shepard shot a bullet through his brain.
Jack Harper had died somewhere in between, innocuously, poisonous whispers in his heart and an unearthly glow behind his eyes.
