Is it raining?

Hullo, World. *twirls umbrella*

I'm surprised I haven't posted in so long.  It's also been months since I wrote in my paper journal.  That's probably why the past few days I've been extra-introspective.  I try to not get sucked in, but I guess once in a while it bubbles up.

I've been thinking about politics, religion, personal freedom, academia, the ( Read more... )

introspection, writing

Both is definitely good if you can pull it off. I don't even have a plot that's kept with me yet. It's like I feel emotionally disconnected from writing atm or something.

Yeah, deadline is at the moment hovering in the air because I want to meet my own deadline, and... yeah... :P

My problem is that I'm way too introspective for my own good, and it makes me want to delve into characters' inner thoughts and workings. It can make for a very slow, almost pointless piece of writing. I'm not so good at writing action/adventure. Also, it can be a pain to do the all the research to make a good action/adventure piece.

Good luck with your writing, too. :-)

Character development pieces are never pointless if done well. Action/adventure is all well and good, but if I don't give a damn about the characters involved, I won't give a damn if they're blown into oblivion. So go with your gut!

I agree that if you can pull off both happy and sad, go for it. Personally I find writing (good) comedy much harder than writing angst -- maybe because I'm a sucker for bittersweet endings. :)

You are an amazing writer! Good luck with it. :D
I didn't like A Walk to Remember book, but I did enjoy the movie. The book was like copying Love Story, except was definitely not as good. Book did not make me cry, but the movie did (A Walk to Remember). Love Story book made me cry a little though. It's been a few years since I've read A Walk to Remember. So, maybe my perspective will be different if I read it again?
