What is Jonathon Strange? Also I have never heard of The Historian, what is it about? Why didn't you finish Life of Pi?

Jonathan Strange... takes place in 19th century Britain, in a world where magic is real and accepted among certain circles. Not in a Harry Potter way though, it's more like a scholarly pursuit for people with land/money. It's more grounded than the average magic novel, but with enough flights of fancy to keep things unusual. It's a pretty thick tome so I don't think I can really do it justice in a short summary ( ... )
