Em stretched at the head of the pool. Bein' dead definitely frees up my schedule to work out more. She frowned. Wow, that's morbid. Need to work on that. She stretched her arms above her head and dove into the cool water, starting off at a leisurely pace to free her mind to think about the situation she found herself in. Kay perched herself on the edge of the pool, legs dangling and kicking absent-mindedly, drawing little patterns on the surface. Swimming was a sport she had always enjoyed, but (and wasn't this going to sound ridiculous) the water in this pool was colder than she was used to, so she was just taking the time to get accustomed to it before sliding in.

Em swam a lazy lap before spotting the brunette by the edge. "Oh! I'm sorry!" she stopped and began to tread water. "Didn't mean to hog the whole thing to myself." she laughed nervously. "Come on in, the water's kinda nice today."

"Oh - no, not at all," Kay hastened to assure the woman below her, smiling. She prodded the water again with her toe. "I was just accustoming myself." Still, it was now or never. Taking a breath, she steeled herself and slid into the pool, gasping slightly when it hit - it was still somewhat off the temperature she was used to, but she'd grow used to it.

Em swam to a side to give the other woman room to do laps should she wish and moved into a backstroke. "Not used to others being in here. Guess I just choose the wrong moments to come in. Your accent's familiar. Berkshire?"

Ephram hadn't had time until now to make use of the ship's incredible gym facilities. The Enterprise had a swimming pool! Since he was finally free for an afternoon, he decided to enjoy it.

Exiting the changing rooms, he found Emma already doing laps.

Em paused midlap when someone entered the pool facilities. "E! Finally decide to work out?" she teased. "Because I don't think those markers would work so well in water as they do on those window panes."

"Finally found the time," he answered. "What, you don't think the ink would make a lovely addition to the swimming experience?" he followed up with a tease of his own.

She laughed. "It might but you'd have to get it past Starfleet regulations. Don't think your superiors would appreciate the filters getting clogged with ink. Blaming it on a dead woman ain't gonna help your case either."
