Title: Kidnapped!
Rating: PG
Genre: Romance with a bit of fluffy fluff and tragedy
Pairing: YamaJima
Summary: The last few moment's of one's life should be treasured... and his is no exception
Notes: I can't believe I'm posting again so soon. but as soon as I finished my last story. another one jumped into my head. As always, comments welcome!
Warning: Don't read if you don't like to cry! (Well... if you cry I suppose that would mean that I'm good at conveying my feelings....)
"Yama-chan.... you can't be like this..... he wouldn't want you to be like this...." Ryutaro tried his hardest to console his friend.
"Ryutaro..... don't you understand..... that he's dying? That I want to be with him as much as possible? Why... why would you want me to leave?" Yamada started to tear up, he couldn't bear to leave Yuto's bedside.
"Yaama-Chaan.." Yuto whispered, his eyes fluttering open as he weakly reached out into the cold night air. He had grown successively paler with each passing hour. It felt as if the life were slowly draining out of the fragile thin body.
"Yuto! Yuto! I'm here!" Yamada grasped at the extended hand and felt its coolness against his warm hands. Each time he touched him, he felt his heart sink as he knew that his one love wasn't going to miraculously recover.
"Don't waste your time here... I'm... so sorry... that I... that I.... am causing you so much trouble" Yuto gasped, as each breath caused him pain. He was trembling and struggling with each word..
"No.... no Yuto.. you're not troubling me.... at all. I want to be here.. I want to be here with you..." Yamada cried silent tears.
"Oh.... Yama-ch-chan.. don't cry.... it's only me.... we'll see each other... I'll get better..... I promise" Yuto smiled his gentle smile, weakened as he slowly raised his hand, and brushed away the tears rolling down Yamada's cheek. His smile grew even larger as he saw the crying boy's face, he wanted to be strong, and he knew, that he couldn't keep the promise he had just made, but maybe, even for just those few moments, he had given some speck of hope. As he reassuringly held Yamada's hand, he could feel the world growing blurry around him, as he slowly closed his eyes, and the world blacked out around him. No sight, no hearing, only darkness remained. The events of the day, replayed in his head.

"Yama-chan!" Yuto yelled as he walked toward the shorter boy.
"Yuto! What's going on?" Yamada smiled and walked toward him.
"Well, I was wondering, would you like to go with me to that new clothing store that opened?"
"That one down by the piers? Isn't that place a little dangerous?"
"We can handle it! C'mon it's the two of us, we can do anything!" Yuto raised his fist into the air, and it was shortly joined by Yamada's
The pair walked down the run down parts of the neighborhood and into the newly opened shop, it was quite stark on the inside, but simplicity being the new fad, the two boys thought nothing of it.
"Ne, Yama-chiiiyan! How does this look?" Yuto jumped as he pressed a bright yellow shirt against his chest.
"Nice! I wish I could pull off yellow, but I think darker colors suit me better." Yamada sighed as he picked out a black and white designed polo shirt.
"Ne...you're probably right.."
The two boys shopped and talked for hours before they realized that they had spent the rest of the evening at the store. It was dark out and they had to get home.
"Yamadaaaa" Yuto suddenly burst out as they were walking home together in the dark, only partially lit up by the street lamps they passed.
"Haha, yesss? Nakajimaaaaaa?" Yamada laughed.
"I....Like..... YOU!' Yuto said, tapping his finger on the shorter boy's nose, making his face twitch a little.
"Whuh?" Yamada stopped walking and blinked in confusion, he was at a total loss for words at the moment.
"I like you..... alot...alot alot!" Yuto said, as he leaned forward into the puddle of light the lamp they were under casted onto the pavement. He was showing his goofy smile and his eyes were wide as he waited patiently for a response.
"I.... like you to..." Yamada gave a shy smile as he reasoned with himself, he did like Yuto..... and but he wasn' sure that he was ready to tell him yet. At least this way it saved him the trouble, he reasoned.
"I've been thinking about you... ever since that night that we shared the hotel room together...... I remember getting up to go to the restroom... and I saw you laying there, sleeping and looking so peaceful. Yuto said, recalling the very night he had fallen in love with the boy before him.
"I-I've always liked you.... but I suppose I never got the guts to come out and say it... it was always something that I was afraid to tell you, cause I wasn't sure that you'd feel the same way." Yamada said, now feeling kind of foolish that he hadn't be more forthcoming with his feelings.
The two looked at each other awkardly in the silence that surrounded them. Then suddenly Yuto hugged his bandmate and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead.
"I think, that this is a good thing.. you and I"
As soon as the two separated, a pair of strong arms emerged from the darkness and a piece of cloth was placed over Yuto’s mouth.
“Yuto!” Yamada watched as his newfound love’s eyes rolled and his entire body fell limp. The hand extended even further and the body that came into light was that of a middle age man, with a single scar down his right eye.
“Get away!” Yamada tried to run but the man was too quick, within seconds, the world was starting to spin and grown dimmer.
“Crap….” Yamada whispered as he collapsed on the floor. He reached for Yuto’s hand with his dying strength but before he could get there, the light faded and he found himself so alone.
“Unh….” Yuto moaned as he stirred, the effects of the drugs were starting to wear off.
“Where…. am I?” He asked aloud, hoping someone would answer his question. The tips of his fingers felt numb, and he found himself tied to a chair, and sitting across from him in the dank little closet of a room, was Yamada.
“Yama-Chan! Wake up! Ryosukee!” The skinny boy struggled to muster up what strength he had to scoot his chair over.
“Oh. My head…..” Yamada woke up, he raised his head slowly and looked at Yuto.
“Where.. are we?” He asked.
“I don’t know… I think… we’re in some closet, or storage room” Yuto said.
“I…. I’m scared.”
“It’ll be okay, ne Yuto?” Yamada wasn’t entirely sure how much he himself believed those words.
They managed to move their seats together, enough so that they could sit side by side, and as soon as they were together, their hands met. They held on to each other tightly, both quivering with fear and anticipation of whatever was to come.
“It’ll be okay…” Yamada kept reassuring the nervous wreck next to him.
“I… hope.” Yuto said, shivering as the cold bit into his bones and he shook with fear.
They heard voices approaching from beyond the room’s door.
“Hey, what are we going to do with those two boys?” A man’s voice said.
“They weren’t worth robbing, but we can’t take a chance, they may have seen your face, man what a bother… we’ll have to get rid of them.” Another said.
“Yeah I guess so…. The same way?” The first man asked.
“The only way….” Came the response.
As the door to the room swung open, the two tied up boys saw their attackers, two large men, each with various scars on their arms, from day labors and a few of life’s challenges.
“I’m sorry kid, but if you’re quiet, maybe you’ll die peacefully.” One of them said as he began untying Yuto.
As soon as the ropes were off his arms, Yuto sprang forward, using his knowledge of karate and hit the man square in the stomach, knocking him over. Just as he turned to get the other man, he felt a fist slam into his own stomach, and he collapsed onto the floor. He writhed in pain as he lay there on the floor, curled up into a ball.
“You little brat!” The man on the floor got up and gave Yuto a stern kick to the side.
“Yuto!” Yamada cried out, his arms still bound by the ropes. All he could do was watch as the two men punished the little boy on the ground. Kicks were delivered without mercy, and he was dragged around by the hair. Finally, after a few minutes, he was left on the floor, unconscious, with a little bit of blood dripping out the corner of his mouth.
“Yuto…. Oh god… please be okay….. “ The helpless boy cried out, but no response.
“Shut up!” one of the men pulled out a familiar looking piece of cloth and covered Yamada’s nose and mouth. Once again, the world faded into black…….
“Ugh… my head…..” Yamada awoke with a start., he kicked the metal wall in front of him as he jerked awake.
“Where…. are we now?” He asked, but no answer came. He turned around, and the events before he blacked out returned to him.
“Yuto!” He cried, kneeling down beside the curled body on the floor.
“Yuto! Wake up, please be alive!” He shook the boy.
“Ow…. I….I’m awake…” Yuto came to, he gasped for breath, and found his entire body racked in pain. The small amount of air he could manage to get, was barely enough to keep him awake.
“Are you okay?! Yuto!”
“I..” Yuto gasped
“Yuto!”
“I’m okay… just… tired….” He faked a smile, his mouth showed dried blood that had dripped from the corner down his chin.
“Oh god… what are we going to do…..” Yamada cried as he held his newfound love in his arms.
“I can’t believe that the one day that we can finally be honest with each other, and the one day that we can be together… ends like this…”
Yamada held the still gasping boy in his arms and let his head rest against his lap. He hugged his head tightly, bringing it to his own. As he cried, the tears fell down his face and washed away some of the blood that was dried on Yuto’s face.
“I love you s-s-so…mu-much…Yama-ch-chan. Th-thank you, for coming out… with me, it was…perfect.” Yuto said as he raised a single shaky hand and brushed against the soft cheek above him, he smiled his weak smile, and his eyes gave a last sparkle.
“Oh Yuto…” Was all that was said, before the skinnier boy’s eyes closed and he lost consciousness again.
“NAKAJIMA! Don’t you dare die on me! I said it would be okay! You’re not making it okay! You’re making me a liar!” Yamada shook the boy in his arms, nothing but the weak rise and fall of the boy’s chest greeted his cries.
“Yutooo!” He cried even louder, the hollowness of the container they were in echoed his cries until they vibrated.
“HEY! I hear something!” A voice from outside came.
“Is someone there!?” Yamada yelled.
“HEY! Keep yelling! We’ll find you!” The same voice yelled out.
“Help! Help! Please! Bring a doctor!”
Within moments, the container’s hinges whined as the doors were swung open. There between the lights were the other eight members of HSJ, their faces a mess of tears.
“Yama-chan! Yuto! What happened!” Inoo rushed in, he tried to take Yuto off of the sobbing boy’s arms, but met resistance as Yamada wouldn’t let go.
“Chinen, Ryutaro, go get the paramedics, tell them its this container and that someone is in real trouble. Keito and I will try to handle the situation until they get here.” Hikaru commanded, his serious tone driving a sense of importance into the two younger boys.
“Yama-chan… I need you to let go okay? I need to see what’s happened to him.” Daiki patted his bandmate on the back, rubbing up and down to reassure him. Finally, a small tearstricken nod released the limp boy’s body and he was laid on the floor of the container gently. Yabu came with damp paper cloth strips that he had taken from the little First Aid kit he had brought. He knew it wouldn’t be enough, but maybe it would buy Yuto a few moment’s of ease.
As both Takaki and Daiki looked over Yuto’s body, they both knew it wasn’t looking good, the younger boy was getting paler and weaker by the second. Finally the paramedics arrived and began to gently place the two on stretchers.
“I don’t need a stretcher! I’ll be fine! Take care of him, please!” Yamada cried as two of the men tried to help him onto a nearby stretcher cart. He squeezed into the ambulance next to the paramedics as they began their attempts to save Yuto’s life.
The two medics cut open the boy’s shirt and as soon as Yamada saw the bruises and the blood on the boy’s chest, he sobbed even harder and looked away. He was terrified of what he might see.
After three hours of surgery, the operating room sign turned off, and out came the two surgeons. They both looked at Yamada and Yuto’s family and shook their heads, bowing in apology.
“He’s lost too much blood, and the cracked ribs left sever scrapes against his lungs, there’s nothing we can do. At most, he’ll be alive for the next few hours…”
Yamada heard this, and collapsed onto the ground, along with Yuto’s younger brother. He felt the tears welling up in his eyes again, as he looked at the pitiful little boy bawling next to him. He willed himself over and put his arms around the younger Nakajima, and held him as they both shed their tears.
The doctors finally allowed Yuto to have visitors, but they were cautioned that Yuto was given some very strong drugs, to help alleviate the pain, so he may not be fully “there”. The other band members realized that it would be best for Yamada to go in alone.
“Ryosuke…. Go in and see him.” Yabu nudged him in the direction of the door.
“Yamada…. This is your chance to perform a miracle like in the dramas ne?” Hikaru pushed him in, trying to give the boy some encouragement.
As he entered the Intensive Care Ward, Yamada felt so much welling up into his stomach. He felt his apprehensive choking him as he approached the bedside. His eyes were red from the tears he had been crying for the last few hours. The look upon Yuto’s face looked so peaceful, as if he was in no pain, but only sleeping.
“Oh Yuto.. you goofball…” Yamada gave a small laugh, trying to dispel the nervous knot in his gut. He bent down and gave the boy a kiss.
“mmnh…..h-hey..my first...first kiss…” Yuto said weakly, as he displayed his pale smile again.
“I’m sorry I took advantage of you then….” Yamada smiled back, trying to put on a brave face.
Outside the ICU, the other bandmembers pressed their faces against the glass window looking in. They felt awe as the two boys looked as if they were having a cheerful discussion.
“Yuto’s so strong, to put up such a face for Yama-chan isn’t he?” Keito said, his head bowed low.
“Yuto’s a twig, but he’s like a bamboo branch, strong and firm.” Hikaru said, quoting a famous line.
“What are we going to do without him….?” Ryutaro sniffled.
“Who’s going to make us laugh, bug us, eavesdrop on us?” Chinen’s voice was starting to break up.
“Guys it’s okay…. It’ll be okay….” Yabu took the two boys into his arms and held them tightly.
The other members watched the scene before them, and fought back their tears.
Then suddenly they heard a scream come from inside the ICU and they saw that Yuto’s hand had fallen from Yamada’s grasp and the boy was unconscious again. He was delirious, Yamada grasped his head as his mind couldn’t comprehend why this was happening.
Ryutaro rushed in and started to try to pull Yamada out, to sit outside, while the doctors tended to their fallen bandmate.
"Yama-chan.... you can't be like this..... he wouldn't want you to be like this...." Ryutaro tried his hardest to console his friend……………………

After a few minutes, the doctors walked out and shook their heads again.
“It’s time to say your final goodbyes… I’m sorry.”
After the family had gone… one by one, the members of HSJ entered.
“Yuto… You were always my little brother… whether you liked it or not.” Hikaru said, fighting back his tears.
“You know I’ll always remember you, you were the dorky one…. I guess Hikaru’s going to have to try harder to fill both your shoes” Yabu smiled, and brushed aside the hair covering Yuto’s eyes.
“I’ll come play guitar for you every chance I get” Keito said, his back straight as a board, he wanted to give the impression he was brave, and accepting, but on the inside he was weeping silent tears.
“Yuto! What are we going to do without you…..how could you leave us like this?” Daiki laughed as tears rolled down his face.
“Yuto! The YY Club cant miss one of its Y’s! I hope you’ll look over me then….. so you can always be with me…” Chinen couldn't bear to see his friend like that any longer and walked out silently.
“I’ll always remember those times where you secretly put those candies in my bag Yuto… and I think that this time, it’s time for me to the do the same.” Ryutaro placed a single piece of candy in the pale white hands and left.
“Yuto… it’s not your time.. why are you leaving us so early..?” Takaki felt so helpless
“Genius boy, you should find a way to come back to us, I always suspected that you were always smarter than me, but you didn't want to show it, now I’ll never get the chance to prove it… looks like you win another game…” Inoo patted Yuto on the head and walked out, tears streaming down his eyes as he did.
“Yuto…Yuto….. I still love you…. I always loved you…..and I wanted you to be here longer for me to tell the world! You can't leave me now! You promised me that you'd get better! Yuto.... Yuto you liar! Wake up and talk with me... please....” Yamada cried as he knelt by the bedside.
“Yuto, please just look at me one more time…. Look at me and give me the smile that I wanted so badly to kiss everytime I saw you, and give me that playful look with your eyes. Just one more time…” At this moment, Yuto’s hand opened gently and the single piece of candy that Ryutaro had placed in his hand fell out. It had designs in the shape of a smiley face. Yamada smiled and whispered
“You dork…” He laughed through tears.
Yuto began stirring slightly his eyes never opened, his head leaned to one side and whispered “Yama-chan….”
“Yuto.. I want to hear you say my name…. just once … just once.. so I can always have it in my mind… just once….”
Yuto smiled again and whispered “Ryo…suke I… love you.” and with that his entire body went slack and the monitor beeped its steady beep.
“YUTO!” Yamada cried as he buried his head in the boy’s arms and threw himself around the body lying in the bed. No matter how hard he shook, no matter how hard he cried and no matter how hard he wished,
Yuto… was gone.
