“Chinen-Kun! Is it true!? Is it true that you’re thinking about…..”
“Chinen! Chinen! Over here! Can you confirm the rumor that…..”
“Chinen Yuri San! This way please! Can you please comment on the recent developments……”

The reporters would bombard Chinen on his way into the studio. It had just happened as someone had let slip that Chinen was taking a small break from the entertainment world. Lately, he had been stressed with his work and the burden of balancing a normal teenager’s life, and had decided to take a small hiatus. It was perfect, JUMP’s agenda for the month was clear, and they were about to finish their shooting for NYC’s PV. It seemed that if he was going to take a break, now would be the time. Unfortunately for him, someone mistook the rumor to be that he was quitting. Despite however desperately he told the reporters that a rumor had no factual basis, they would constantly hound him about it.

“I can’t take this anymore….. I wanted to take this break to get away from all this… and now it just seems to be looking for me…” Chinen sighed.

“Ne ne, it’ll be okay, rumors come and go, eventually they’ll give up.” Daiki said as he gave the younger a pat on the back.

“Maybe…. And maybe it wont….”

“I'm sure it will, I mean you hear all the rumors for our senpais come and go, it’ll be the same for us!”

“Maybe…….” Chinen sighed as he sat down beside Daiki and let himself fall into the deep cushions of the sofa. Maybe life would throw a bone his way, and let him rest. Maybe. He just hoped that this particular rumor would pass quickly.

“Chi chi chi chi chi!” Yabu playfully nudged Chinen’s sides.
“N-nani?”
“Well… So this break that you’re taking, where are you goin?”
“I… Uh…. That’s to say…. I um… I hadn’t thought about it. I was originally going to just spend it at home.
“Well that plan just went to bits didn't it?” Inoo said as he sat down and opened his water bottle.
“Y-Yeah…..” Chinen nodded, he really didn't have any idea where he was going to go. He couldn’t stay home, and had no idea where else would be a safe retreat.

“AH! You can come with me!” Daiki interjected
“Eh?”

“Well.. I didn't take as long a vacation as you… but my family and I are leaving for this little resort in the countryside…. It’s really nice! It’s like this little spa place hidden in the forests of a mountain. I’ve been going there once a year since I was 10!” Daiki nodded.

“Um… Maybe…. Would your family mind?”

“No! I think my mom would enjoy having someone else who has some Dancing talent…. Besides, they may not come this year, it seems that things are picking up at my parent’s work….“

“She’s still doing the moonwalk huh?” Hikaru chuckled as he sat down next to his bandmates.

“Yep…..” Daiki sighed and rolled his eyes.

“Um… well…… let me ask my parents okay?” Chinen said as he stood up to take his place before the camera.

“Dai-Channnnn! I can go!” Chinen exclaimed over the phone.

“That’s great! It’ll be so much fun!” came the reply.

“What should I bring!?”

“Well you don’t have to bring anything, the spa provides robes, but maybe just some general clothes for walking around.”

“Great! I’ll see you in the morning! Ja ne!” As he closed his cell, Chinen could feel a sense of refreshment wash over him. Maybe this trip would be good for him. It seemed that his parents concurred, they had noticed the dip in their son’s personality, and thought a week at a spa would be most beneficial.

(>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)

“He’s coming…… he’s coming……” Daiki sighed to himself as he laid on his bed, hugging his cell phone tightly against his chest. He felt terrible for taking advantage of Chinen’s situation. Somehow, luring him with the prospect of a mountain retreat for his own sake seemed rather selfish of him. Still, he had been waiting months to find the perfect moment to get the younger boy alone. Ever since the photoshoot where they gave each other piggy backs, he had been noticing the younger boy more and more.

“Chinen…..” Arioka sighed again as he closed his eyes and let his mind drift. He thought of the way that Chinen would always perform flips and bow shyly as if they were nothing. He thought of the way that Chinen would smile and absent-mindedly wet his lips with his tongue. All the little things suddenly became major events and only served to make the him all the more cuter…. All the more sexier.

“Until tomorrow…..” Daiki sighed and reached with his eyes still closed for the switch to turn off the light in his room.

(>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)

The next morning came just as quickly as it passed, and soon the two boys found themselves before an ornate wooden building. Entering, the attendant greeted them and nodded to Daiki.

“Hi, checking in?” Daiki said as he put his reservation information on the counter.

“Ah, sure, the room for two.” The man behind the counter handed them copies of the key, and a schedule of their itinerary.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, please note that the itinerary is optional, but recommended for a most relaxing time. I’ll have someone take your bags to your room.”

A bellboy seemed to appear out of nowhere and proceeded to lead the way to the elevators. As he did, the two boys looked at each other and giggled in anticipation. The bellboy led them to the end of the hallway and opened the door marked “Bamboo Suite” He proceeded to set the bags into the room and bowed as he took his leave.

“Wow! This place is amazing!” Chinen was awed by the room, it felt so earthy and nature-like. It was in simple wood, but with many Bamboo plants placed around the room, it was so clean, so clear and refreshing. He walked over to the door leading to a small patio outside, and opened it, a small Bamboo garden greeted his eyes.

“Yeah, I usually get the one with the flowing creek, but I heard this room was just as nice.” Daiki said as he tried desperately not to smile broadly at how cute Chinen was, he loved watching the younger boy run from one corner of the room to the other, all the while his eyes wide open and talking about how beautiful the arrangements were.

“Where are our bedrooms?” Chinen asked as he grabbed his bag.

“Over here… it’s really one room, but they put in a separator”

“Oh….. I see… well they really didn’t have to go through all that trouble… I mean we’ve shared rooms on tour before huh?” The two inspected the wooden papered wall that had been placed between their rooms.

“Well… it’s noon, and our schedule doesn't start until tomorrow, what do you wanna do?” Daiki asked as he began putting away his clothes in the room’s closet.

“I just want… to relax….. to stay in bed…. To stay in and have a simple lunch.” Chinen said as he let himself fall backwards into the bed.

“Soooo soffttt!” He sighed as he rubbed his hands across the mattress covers.

“Haha ditto!” Daiki said as he sat down.

After putting away all their things, the two sat down in front of the TV in the living room outside their room. They had ordered themselves a simple dinner from room service and opted to just watch whatever was on TV.

“Oh great…… really….? Even here..?” Chinen sighed as he turned on the TV and his own face appeared. They were showing a recent interview where he was adamantly refusing the validity of his rumors.

“Oh… well…. It’s not that bad.. I think you’re rather cute when you’re flustered and annoyed.” Daiki laughed.

“Thanks……” Chinen replied dryly.

“Annnnytime Chi-Chan.” Daiki chuckled again as he changed the channel, and another familiar face appeared.

“Ooo let’s watch Keito do his thing on Hyakushiki!” Chinen said as he sat up.  The two of them found themselves cracking up as they watched Keito try to make noodles.

“Uwa, Keito-Kun is pretty awesome ne?” Chinen said as he turned off the TV, leaving the room cloaked in an awkward silence.

“Yeah….He’s pretty good at all that stuff.” Daiki nodded.

“What now?”

“Didn't you say that you wanted to stay in today? During the commercials I ordered room service for us.” Daiki said as he stood up, to fill a glass of water from the kitchen.

“Really!? Arigatou Dai-chan!” Chinen jumped up and sat himself on the little counter opposite the kitchen.

“AH!” Daiki jumped back as the glass slipped in his hand and landed back onto the counter, spilling all the water on himself.

“Cold cold!” Daiki hopped up and down,

“Ah, here! Haha let me help you.” Chinen laughed as he grabbed a few napkins off the table. He pressed then against Daiki’s abs, sopping up what he could.

“Arigatou Chii…”

“Take off your shirt, and let it dry, otherwise you’re gonna be cold all day.”

Daiki quickly stripped off his shirt, leaving him naked from the waist up.  Suddenly the situation before him popped into his head and he realized, that this was the first time, other than for a photo shoot, that he was shirtless with Chinen. Strangely, even though he knew that it was nothing weird, he could feel himself blush.

“Uwa, Dai-chan, you’ve been working out ne?” Chinen commented as he pressed his hand against the older boy’s abs. Daiki relished the feeling of Chinen’s warm hands against his cold stomach, a strange tingling feeling overtook his body.  Suddenly the door bell rang and Daiki awoke from his small trance.

“Uh.. Coming!” Daiki walked to the door and opened it, a server came in with a small cart and set it in the middle of the room, near the small table in the dining area.

“mmm I’m hungry…” Chinen frowned and quickly took one of the two spots at the table. As Daiki sat down, the lights in the room dimmed.

“Uh.. oh wait, we’re not… we’re…” Daiki tried to mention to the server but was too late, the door closed, leaving the room lit by nothing but the candles on the table.

“It’s fine, isn’t this nice? It’s something different isn’t it?” Chinen said, putting his hand on Daiki’s on the table.

“Uh…” Daiki wasn't sure what to do, and felt rather flustered as he shakingly put his napkin in his lap. He had to admit, the gentle candle light was very different. The still gently flickering light shined in Chinen’s eyes and illuminated his smile. He watched as Chinen gingerly put petite pieces of his food in his mouth and he loved the little faces the boy made as he savored each bite.

“You aren’t eating?” Chinen asked suddenly,

“Uh-Uh, I’m just… letting it cool a little.” Daiki waved his hands over his plate and smiled shyly.

“So Chinen, how is the break so far?” Daiki tried to strike up some casual dinner conversation.

“It’s been fun! It’s so relaxing here…. The air is so clean and freeing!”

As he watched his bandmate talk, Daiki could only prop his head on his hand, and with a goofy smile, watched how excitedly Chinen talked and gestured.

“Did you listen to a word I said….?” Chinen furrowed his brow

“Uh… yeah!” The older boy stuffed more food into his mouth and smiled.

“You looked like you were zoning out…."

“N- noooo.”

When dinner ended, the two boys didn't bother to turn on the lights. As soon as the candles were extinguished, they just sat outside in the garden and enjoyed the moonlight together.  They gazed at the stars above and commented on how beautiful and fragrant the small bamboo around them was. It was truly a relaxing day.

(>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)

Early in the morning, Daiki woke up early to the sounds of the birds chirping outside.

“mmhnn..” He moaned as it sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes. As he stepped on the floor, he yawned and stretched his arms out and suddenly stopped. As the stillness of the room focused the gentle sounds of the sleeping boy next door. He snuck over to the break in the divider between the rooms and peeked in. The younger boy lay sprawled in his bed, wearing a shirt that was obviously too big for him, and pajama pants. Every few minutes, Daiki could hear sounds escape the boy’s lips, he knew he shouldn’t…. but curiosity got the better of him, and soon enough he was right at Chinen’s bedside. He leaned over and heard his name.

“Da-Da….Dai-Chan…” Chinen would mumble

“They’re everywhere… I just w-want to get a…away” the younger boy mumbled again, and turned around.

“Poor Chinen ne… you’ll be okay…” Daiki whispered as he gently patted Chinen on the head.  Once again, a mysterious impulse overtook his body and without a moment’s thought,  Daiki leaned forward and pressed his lips ever so gently on Chinen’s and for an instant, his mind went blank. After coming to his senses, he quickly bustled out of the room and walked quickly to the kitchen and splashed some water against his face.

While in the bedroom, Chinen opened his eyes and smiled...

(>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)

“Daaaaii-Chaaaan!” Chinen jumped out into the living room, he was still wearing the shirt that was too big for him, except now, it had slid to the side, revealing Chinen’s collarbone and much of his shoulder.

“G-Good morning Chi” Daiki stuttered as he stared at the boy before him. He wanted to keep this picture in his mind for as long as possible. He just couldn't get over how adorable Chinen looked. From his oversized shirt, to the cute white and gold pajama pants, to the messy bed hair that he always tried to cover up, everything. Daiki sighed and smiled as he picked up the hotel phone.

“Breakfast?”

“mm! Sure!” The two boys excitedly looked through the breakfast menu beside the phone and eagerly picked out some simple fruit crepes . They were informed that the crepes would be made in their room and a cart would be sent.. As soon as they hung up the phone, the doorbell to the room rang, and the two boys looked at each other with their jaws wide open.

“No way…….” Daiki furrowed his brow and walked to the door.

“Fast aren’t they..?” Chinen said as he stood behind Daiki

Just as the door opened a large flash of light met their eyes, partially blinding the two boys.

“Chinen-Kun! Is it true!? Is it true that you’re thinking about…..”
“Chinen! Chinen! Over here! Can you confirm the rumor that…..”
“Chinen Yuri San! This way please! Can you please comment on the recent developments……”

The same words flew out of the reporter’s mouths.

“WHY!?” Chinen nearly cried as he could feel his newly obtained sense of peace leaving him, all he could do was hide behind Daiki.

“Please, leave us alone.” Daiki said in a stern voice, shocking even the reporters. With a quick push, the door to the room slammed shut and the older boy quickly tended to the crying boy on the ground behind him.

“Dai-Chan….I cant stand living like this anymore….” Chinen cried as he sat on the floor.

“It…It’ll be okay… just remember, it’ll disappear, rumors always do.”
“Sometimes….. it would just be easier…. If I disappeared.”
“Don't you ever say that… never say that okay?” Daiki lifted Chinen up by the arms and looked him sternly in the eyes.
“I’d miss you too much, so don’t ever say something like that okay?” He repeated and he pulled the younger boy in closer and held on tightly.

“Daiki….”

The rest of the day Chinen sat in his room, huddled against a corner with his knees drawn up and head in his arms. He could still hear the reporters waiting for them out in the hall, the occasional figure would appear in the window in the room, desperately trying to peek in. It seemed all the world was looking for him, and he couldn’t stand the attention.

“Chinen.. you can’t stay in here forever…” Daiki said as he took a seat next to the huddled boy.

“Dai-Chan… What am I going to do? They wont listen to me…. they wont hear anything I say, and no matter what I do, they’re going to keep hounding me. It’s been so long since I’ve been able to go out anywhere. I haven’t seen anyone outside of rehearsal, outside of TV shootings…. I just…feel so confined, so trapped…"

“Well, you’re here with me, aren’t you? You’re seeing me outside of all that…”
“I’m sorry Dai-Chan"
“For what?”
“For ruining your peaceful trip…I know you must have looked forward to this..”

“Ah, it’d doesn't matter, I’d rather spend time with you…even this is fine.” Daiki said as he patted Chinen’s head and put his arms around him. Applying a small amount of pressure, he pushed Chinen towards him and let the boy lay on his lap.

“Chinen… you know… seeing you like this is kinda scary for me.” Daiki weakly chuckled.

“Why?”

“I always thought…. That you were the strongest one of us… that if anything were to ever happen, you’d take it in stride. I always admired that about you. Even though you are so young, you’ve got it in you to be something great. Don’t you think so too? There’s still so much in life to do… so much to experience… don’t let something like this bring you down.” Daiki smiled as he looked at the wall in front of him. His hand ran up and down Chinen’s back, comforting the boy whose head rest in his lap. It seemed that these words reached Chinen, as he uncurled himself and turned to look up at Daiki.

“I….” He tried to find something to say, but the words failed to come out.

“It’s okay, you don’t have to say anything… just think about it.” Daiki pulled the blanket off the nearby bed and covered Chinen in it, wrapping him in its warmth. Somehow, despite the cold world that awaited him outside the walls of the room, he felt better.

(>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)

Later that night, Chinen awoke with a start. The distant roars of thunder rang in the room, the gentle patter of the rain rang against the window and from the small garden.

“mmh?” He groaned as he sat up on the floor. Soon after, he realized he had been laying on Daiki’s lap all this time. Arioka had fallen asleep with his hand clasping Chinen’s, and he slumped against the bed stand next to him.

“Dai-Chan…thank you.” Chinen bowed gratefully, as he gently unclasped Daiki’s hand and stood up. He squatted down and pulled the still warm blanket over the older boy.

“This…. is in return… for the other day.” He whispered as he leaned in, and placed his lips against the sleeping boys and gently pressed his forehead against Daiki’s.

“Hontou ni…. Arigatou.” He whispered again before standing up and walking out to the living room. It was nice, the room was silent and he could hear nothing but the gentle sounds of the rain against the windows. He gazed at the clock, it read that it was quarter after three in the morning, and he smiled knowing that the reporters must have left by now. Taking slow but deliberate strides, Chinen walked to the door leading to the garden and slid it open. He relished the feelings of the gentle rain and the wind brushing against his body. Soon, he found himself standing among the shoots of bamboo and sitting in the stone bench in the small garden, the rain washed over him, soaking all his clothes and drenching his hair. Despite how he looked, he had never felt so refreshed. The words Daiki said repeated in his head and he found strength in them.

“I promise Dai-Chan…. I’ll never say those words again…..” He said to the sky, who replied with its steady shower.

Just as he said these words, Daiki popped into his head again. He thought about how nice that moment was that they shared. Chinen smiled as he thought about just how lucky he was to have the boy sleeping against the bed stand right at this moment. He could feel a sudden wave of emotion building within him. It suddenly seemed that from the moment they met, Daiki had always been there for him, and he just now realized that he hadn’t always returned the feeling. But now, it seemed that he had feelings for the older boy, ones that he hadn’t been aware of until now. Suddenly they came flying out of the corners of his heart and he felt the need to yell them out.

“I love you Dai-Chan!” He said cathartically, louder than before. As he looked down at the entrance to the garden, there stood the boy he had just confessed his feelings for, standing there shocked.

“D-Daiki…” Chinen’s eyes opened wide and he found himself unable to move. As he watched, still paralyzed, Daiki walked out into the garden. He walked over to where Chinen stood near the bench and wrapped his arms around the boy. There the two stayed, drenched in the cold rain, but still warm in each other’s embrace.

“Chinen… I love you too…” Daiki just about cried as he finally let the words escape his mouth. Their eyes met as their hug ended, and they both leaned forward into a gentle and tender kiss. As the thundering storm grew in intensity, the rain traced along the two boy’s kiss, sliding raindrops fell, tracing the lips of the boys in the garden.

“I’m glad you came…. So I could tell you..” Daiki whispered as he smiled, grateful that the rain covered his tears of joy.

“I’m glad you invited me…. so you could rescue me.” Chinen whispered as he smiled.

(>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)

Luckily for the boys, after they had toweled off and changed clothes, the kitchen of the spa was open 24 hours, and they ordered a few thermoses of hot chocolate. They sat huddled together on the couch. Together they watched the late night dramas that aired and sipped on the hot chocolate. The fragrance of the drink filled the room, providing another sense of warmth as the two boys laid on the couch, Chinen contently in Daiki’s arms, and their legs intertwined in each others. With Daiki supporting him, as he always had, Chinen found the will to face the media, to keep adamantly refusing the stupid rumor he had let ruin his life recently.

(>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)  (>’_’)><(‘_’<)

Somehow, the quick getaway at the spa ended all too soon, and the two boys found themselves on a bus to a press conference JUMP’s manager had called on Chinen’s behalf.

“Good luck..” Daiki whispered as he gave Chinen a kiss.

“You’ll stand by me wont you?” The younger boy gave a pleading look.

“You couldn’t stop me if you tried.” Came the response as the two hugged and shared a final kiss before opening the door of the bus and stepped into the sea of chaos that awaited them.

“Chinen-Kun! Is it true!? Is it true that you’re thinking about quitting JE?”
“Chinen! Chinen! Over here! Can you confirm the rumor that you’ve gotten a better offer from another agency and are quitting to join them?”
“Chinen Yuri San! This way please! Can you please comment on the recent developments in your career!?”

Chinen turned and looked at Daiki who gave him a gentle nod and a small smile. With a deep breath, he turned back to the microphones before him and said clearly.

“Everyone, thank you for coming out today, I had this press conference called for one reason. That is…. To tell you all, that I am NOT quitting, I will NEVER quit and I hope that in the future, you will all realize how silly these rumors are. If there is any news to be said, wait for it to come from MY lips only. I could never let those who are my fans down. I could never let myself disappoint them. So please, pay no attention to any of those rumors, I am NOT quitting the entertainment business, and I am NOT going to leave JE. “

The reporters in the crowd fell silent, the conviction with which the young boy at the stand spoke stunned them and suddenly they felt so guilty for badgering him all this time.

“You know….. There’s another reason for this conference… it just came to me. Chinen said. With a quick movement he turned around and pulled Daiki to the front by the strings of his hoodie and kissed him passionately. The older boy’s eyes grew wide with surprise before closing and the two kissed before the flashing lights of the cameras for the all the world to see.

“Chinen-Kun! Is it true!? Is it true that you and Arioka-Kun are dating?"
“Chinen! Chinen! Over here! Can you confirm the rumor that you’ve got a relationship with Daiki-san outside of work?”
“Chinen Yuri San! This way please! Can you please comment on the recent developments in your lovelife!?”

Chinen smiled at the crowd and replied,
“All the rumors…. About Dai-Chan and I…… are absolutely…… TRUE…..”

The two boys looked at each other and smiled

“So why’d you tell them?”
“I figure if they’re going to hound me about something, it may as well be about something true….” Chinen shrugged as he and Daiki chucked on the way back to the bus.
