Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 ---Yabu---
In the midst of the night, Yabu felt a growing presence among his brother gods, closing his eyes he focused on the presence to find it flaring green with rage.
“Daiki.” He whispered.
They are coming,
He heard through their commonality. He could sense the other gods’ concern as the news of the attack spread.
Seeing the events through the eyes of his brother god, he felt a creeping sense of uneasiness spread through him, and the sudden sense that something, was wrong…
Dashing across the night sky, he flew through the streets, trying to find Ryosuke, but the streets diverged and twisted in directions he knew not. Splitting himself in halves to follow the roads, then in quarters… he flew through the night until he found Ryosuke, walking home still.
Gathering himself, Yabu fell quietly in tow behind the younger boy. He watched vigilantly, the uneasiness still growing in his core. Moments later he froze as Ryosuke stopped walking, dropping his bag in the process. A scream sounded out and Yabu saw a group of teenagers running down the street as a small band of what looked to a large hooded figure with a small group of gremlin-like minions close behind. He watched as the figure formed a sickle from the descending shadows and he ran forward, forcing himself into existence again. Pushing forward he shot a bolt of light at the weapon, deflecting it from the girl’s head.
“Ah… the king is here……” The figure mocked.
“You will learn respect.” He roared back.
“For the useless gods? Hah.” The figure sent his minions forward, catching one of the teenagers still in the area. But before Yabu could react, the same figure ran in the opposite direction, grabbing Ryosuke by the neck. The boy gagged as the hand’s nails dug in, drawing a little blood.
“Can you save all your precious mortals?’ A sinister laugh followed.
“A-Aughhh” Ryosuke choked, as the other boy screamed. In that split second, Yabu looked at the boy caught underneath the monsters, and the boy caught in the figure’s hand. Just as Ryosuke’s pleading eyes met his he felt himself waiver for a moment as he seriously considered forsaking the other boy.
“BLINK!” He shouted, and just as Ryosuke’s eyes closed, a blinding white light appeared, a faint thud, a roar and a shriek followed after. When the light faded the figure sat nursing his arm which seemed to have been cut off, and the monsters were completely gone. The younger boy sat on the pavement, his eyes closing slowly closing as his body felt weak.
“Tch, light-god, you’ll pay for that.”
A streak of pure red energy shot from beneath the figure’s hood, the air around the area grew hot and heavy. Yabu rolled as he dodged the beam and shot a pulse back of his own. The last thing Ryosuke saw as his eyes closed to the world was a brilliant light that lit the night sky and all at once threw the hooded attacker against the wall.
“Tsk, this wont be the end…” The hooded figure turned around and his feet seemed to lift off the ground, his hood becoming like wings that spread across the sky.
“It will be for you…” Yabu’s eyes glowed softly white. He gathered in his palm a stream of light and wound it around his palm as the thread twisted into a thick cord of light. Casting it up into the sky, it flew around the cloaked figure, binding its “wings’ to its side. Helplessly it fell to the ground, the hood falling off to reveal a face more akin to a skull than a man.
“Kouichi” Yabu spoke, as a bright spark of light appeared, and the boy in shimmering white armor appeared on one knee.
The pair walked up to the writhing figure on the ground.
“An acolyte?” Kouichi asked, his eyes staring at the man on the ground.
“An acolyte turned monster.” Yabu corrected, watching as the bound figure on the ground hissed and struggled against the light cords that surrounded him.
“Tell me demon, who is your master, and maybe I will spare you the pain of torture.” Yabu’s eyes flared again.
“I’d rather die!” The man spat.
“Nobody said anything about having you die…” Kouichi threatened.
The man glared at him, and he hissed as he opened his mouth and the same red beam shot forward. Yabu caught the beam in his hand, reflecting it off what appeared to be tiny crystals that floated in the air. Pushing his hand toward the figure’s mouth, he twisted his fingers, creating a muzzle of sorts as the crystal grew to close the mans’ mouth.
“Take him.”
Kouichi nodded as he placed a hand on the man’s shoulders and with another burst of light, they were gone.
Turning now back to the street, he hurried to Ryosuke’s side and picked the boy up. He was hot with a fever, his body reacting to what Yabu had no doubt was some sort of poison. A deep welling formed in the pit of his stomach. The poison was spreading quickly, blackened veins crawled along Ryosuke’s body and his skin was beginning to turn pale.
“Ryosuke? Ryosuke? I need you to wake up okay? Wake up” Yabu lightly shook the boy. A feeling of despair began to set in he felt his powers wane a little as he struggled to reach for Kei’s power. His hand trembled a bit as he gathered in his palm a little orb of blue light and shot it into the boy’s chest. He forced it to push the poison back, keeping it from spreading. Gently he placed Ryosuke back on the pavement, spreading his arms the ground around him glowed as an ornate circle carved itself into the ground, burned into the cement. For now, nothing within the circle would progress, time stood still within the confines of his power. It was ability not even gods could maintain, but for this short while, he could keep both time and death at bay.
He closed his eyes as he reached out for Kei, his mind told of his urgency and Kei’s conscience came. A thick layer of ice appeared on the ground and grew taller still as the figure of a boy came to be. The ice shattered, leaving behind the god of water.
“What happened?” Kei’s eyes were bewildered as he saw the enormous amount of energy going into the circle. With a single brush of his hand, Inoo dissolved the circle and stepped in, pressing his hand against Ryosuke’s chest. Yabu watched helplessly, trying his best to stay quiet and let Kei work.
“It’s fast…” The water-god remarked. Kei’s hand glowed as it passed through the boy’s chest. spreading throughout the body a glow of blue light.
In moments, the once unconscious boy gasped, sitting up again, his sweat covered body feeling cool.
“Calm yourself, you’re still in need of healing.” Kei reassured, his voice calming and reassuring. All the sweat evaporated now, his body cooled to its normal temperature and he felt his entire body relax.
“I… had… the weirdest dream…..” Ryosuke groaned as he tried to stand up, falling down as his knees buckled.
“Eh…” Yabu shifted uncomfortably.
“You were there…. And there was a whole… fight with a thing that…. I don't even know what it was… and there was fire over th-“ The hysterical boy froze as he turned to see a plume of flames exactly where he pointed.
“You’re fine now, just get some rest..” Inoo said as he finished, his eyes returned to their usual soft brown.
“W-What…. what did you just do to me…”
Kei gave Yabu a look before turning his attention to the fire. He pushed his upturned hand forward, as a stream of water erupted and doused everything, putting out the flames. He turned around and snapped his fingers, making the large amount of water evaporate, leaving only a slightly burnt and blackened tree in front of an otherwise still perfect house.
“I’ll leave this… explanation …. To you.” He said as he turned around and disappeared in the same way he came.
“Yabu…?”
“There’s… more to me… than you know….” Yabu began..
---Takaki---
“Tch, Daiki… still overprotective of your little plants….” Yuya growled as he sat on the lip of the volcano he called home. He didn't really have much reason to stay earthbound anymore, but at the same time, he felt himself drawn to his human form. Though he didn't quite understand it, he wanted to…. do something for the boy who was always picked on.
“This is stupid.” He said abruptly to himself. That wasn't it. It couldn’t be it. He had no room in his heart for something like that, what he knew was cold and hard as steel determination.
“The reason why I’m still here, is because, I set out to teach that boy how to defend himself, how to be strong, and that’s it.” He said firmly, grasping some of the dirt beneath him. He stood up and found his resolve, however shaky and threw the grainy dirt into the air, vanishing with it into the invisible currents.
He reformed himself just outside the Dojo, finding the lights he had left before flickering as the sun began to come out.
“Chinen, awaken.” He said firmly again, but the younger boy did not stir.
“Wake up.” Yuya repeated, but again, nothing. He knelt down now and placed his hand on the boy’s body to find it…. Oddly cold. Reaching for the blanket Yuya poured a small bit of his power into the palm of his hand, creating a flaming ball that crackled as it lit the area around it.
The minute he touched the blanket he recoiled as a hand grabbed his and he felt something attempt to bite his gauntlets. Throwing the fireball at the blanket he recoiled back as the blanket seemed to melt into the figure on the tatamis and slowly an amorphous glob grew from its depths.
“I’ve found you…. Fire-god…” The voice was almost maniacal.
“Who are you and what have you done with my charge?” Yuya demanded.
“He is not to be concerned with…… instead you… should be concerned with me!”
A quick flip backwards left a small quivering feather exactly where Yuya’s feet would have been. The beast behind the cloak sprang forward, his feet projecting out of his draping cloak. They were like talons, sharp and unforgiving, but this would not be enough to detour the god of war….
A loud clang ran out as the claws hit the gauntlets. Yuya’s eyes glowed red with fury as he felt something deep within him grow madder and madder still. He punched forward slamming his fist into what looked to be the figure’s gut, causing it to stumble back. Summoning two crimson colored flames to his side he shot a stream of fire towards the bird-like figure which defended itself with two large black wings that closed in front of its body.
Grinning, Yuya’s eyes flared again as the crimson flames turned almost silver white and he could hear the beast screaming as the flames ripped through the feathers. In a quick twisting movement the figure fell out to the side, clutching its burning wings as he hobbled out the dojo doors. With a snap of his fingers Yuya erected a wall of flames just beyond the grand doors of the dojo grounds and he walked slowly as the figure before him cowered.
“Can you fly like that….. ? pitiful demon?” The god of war grinned as his sadistic side came. He coiled a stream of fire around the figure, letting it create almost a twister of flames around the bird in its center.
“Tell me…. where did you put the boy.”
“H-He’s in… one of the other rooms…. I-I just.. put him there, he’s just asleep!” The monster chirped as Yuya nodded, he closed the top half of his twister, trapping the bird in a diamond-like cage. Forming a thin leash of fire he pulled the cage with him as he moved to the room the demon pointed out.
He found amidst a large pile of shirts that bore the dojo crest, a sleeping Chinen, still unconscious and under the influence of what looked to be a sleeping magic.
“Good…” Yuya nodded setting the unconscious boy down, he stood up now to stare at the figure in his cage.
“You’ll let me go now right?” It pipped and Yuya grinned.
“Yes…. You can go now…” He smiled, moving the cage back and away from him. he turned around now and held Chinen in his arms as he made sure to block the cage from sight. Closing his eyes he clicked his tongue and in a moment the cage behind him burned a bright white as its bars thickened and all at once it collapsed, burning everything inside it to ashes…….
---Inoo---
Kei sat still in the small cove, watching as the water came and went,. The smaller currents reached for him and he reached out with his power to them, directing them to swirl and dance. He was used to this, solitary thought was one of the only things he had been doing as a god, it was only during the once a year festival that honored him, that he would feel the need to visit the mortals on the world below. Now though, he was here and sitting among the earthly beings he ruled over gave him pause. Things were different when seen up close, those few year windows that he had visited had given him, what he now realized, superficial information.
“I must, find out what there is on Earth…… what there is to these beings…” Kei determined. His interest in Yuto was certainly scientific. He had decided that that boy would be the way he would understand modern humanity. That had to be the only reason for his fascination. That had to be it.
It had been a few hours since Kei left Yuto, but now the god slowly made his way back to the mansion.
“Kei! You’re back!” Yuto cheered as he ran across the small garden to greet him.
“Yes…” Kei replied, his voice cooler than usual... this was scientific after all.
“Come have a snack with me and my friend! Hey! Naoki! This is my friend Kei, Kei, this is Naoki, he’s been my best friend since we were little kids.” Yuto smiled proudly.
“Nice to meet you” The boy nodded, and Kei returned the gesture.
“Ne, Naoki! It’s been a while since I’ve been home, why don't you join me and Kei for a picnic!” Yuto cheered, but his companion shrank into himself.
“U-Uh.. it’s okay… I have to go…. Home..”
“Are you sure?”
“Y-Yeah…”
“O… okay..” Yuto frowned as he hugged his friend and bid him farewell.
“Yuto, do you remember your home near the beach?” Kei asked, though he had tried to ignore it, curiosity and his thirst for knowledge was his fatal flaw.
“Y-Yeah?”
“Do you want to go there now? There’s something I want to ask you…”
“What is it? I… I’ll go tell Raiya I’m going back and grab some clothes okay?”
Kei nodded. He waited outside and took a deep breath as he prepared for what he was about to do. In a few minutes the skinny figure appeared in the doorway and he ushered him out of the gate. Making some excuse, Kei convinced Yuto to take the less public route he walked quietly along side the riverbed, hidden behind the hill that traced along the road to the beach.
“So, Yuto, the picture that you drew, do you remember the one with the shadowed figure?”
“Y-Yeah… I don't. know what that’s about, but it kept coming to me. I couldn’t sleep and I woke up crying so many nights. It’s been a few years since I’ve had that dream. Wh-?”
The moment Yuto turned to look at Kei, a flash of blue light blinded him, and suddenly the world was dark.
Kei stood there, holding Yuto’s limp body in his hands. His hand glowed a soft white as he waved it over the boy’s body. Reading the mind of a mortal was nothing uncommon to him, he had done it with little ceremony on several occasions, unlike Hikaru, who enjoyed playing tricks on the gamblers from time to time. He stepped into the river now, setting the body in his arms on the water. He froze the top layer of the river and he put his hand on Yuto’s shoulder.
There was something strange about this, it felt so… wrong…
“Mmnh… Kei…” Yuto moaned, his eyes flickered and the water god’s eyes flashed in surprise. No mortal had ever awoken from the trances he induced, much less talk to him. Yuto’s words were slurred, his mind a haze, but he grabbed Kei’s hand, smiling as the warm white light in the god’s hand covered his eyes.
As if giving him permission, Yuto placed the hand on his forehead. In a flurry of images, Kei saw the vision, except where as he felt he was being pulled away in his, Yuto’s felt as if he were helpless and reaching for the figure fading into the light. And just like that, Yuto’s mind shook from his nightmare, and Kei was pushed out of his consciousness. The fragile boy lay on the ice, his eyes closed in peace.
Ripples formed before Kei and he touched his cheek, tears were flowing from his eyes now and he had no idea why. No understanding of what he felt came and he knew it wouldn't.
Getting his body under control again he gasped as a sudden spear erupted from the riverbank and pierced through him, its tip glistening in a soft green poison.
“You’re getting old and careless water god….”
Kei turned, recoiling in horror as a beast like man stood there, his hand the same color as the red eyes that glared from beneath his hood.
Instinctively he raised the shield of water around him, enclosing him and Yuto in a bubble of water. He walked out of the bubble slowly, gathering liquid in the palm of his hand. As he walked in the water, the small gathering in his hand lengthened and sharpened, forming itself into a sword.
“I don't enjoy fighting demon….” Kei growled, grabbing the spear that still stuck in him. It froze instantly and with a single twist, shattered, leaving a hole in his body. Just as soon as it appeared though, currents of water came from the riverbed and solidified again into flesh.
“Oh?” the reply was as condescending as it was cold.
“But you… seem to have caught me on one of my off days.”
Dashing forward Kei swiped his blade in a wide arc, sending piercing waves of icicles forward.
“Child’s play…” The figure laughed, a wall of the same spears erupted, blocking all the shards.
“Child’s play indeed….” Kei’s voice came and the hooded man looked behind him to see four torrents of water coming at him, slamming him into his own wall and freezing him to it. He winced as the biting cold seemed to go to his very core.
“Tell me, demon, who do you think I am?”
“A-“
“I am the water god, master of the healers, and did you honestly think for a moment that your poisons would affect me? Did you not think I had a few poisons of my own?” Kei’s eyes flared blue for a moment and all too soon the figure began writing against his frozen bonds. The ice that covered his body kept him against the wall, but now the ice came to life, growing sharp needles against his body, wherever a needle poked him, he felt his entire body shriek in pain as it flashed between moments of cold and numbness.
“Yabu….” Kei called to his brother gods and he turned to his right to see a boy emerge from a moonbeam, a flare of fire beside him.
“What is it Kei? I was just talking with Takaki.” The king of the gods asked
“Him.”
“Not bad Kei… it’s a wonder why you and I don't fight more often..” Yuya chuckled.
“Because you know I’d win.”
“A-Ah… maybe… not even I would want to tangle with your poisons.” The war god smiled as the three stood before the figure.
“Cursed gods, you think you can control me? You think you can defeat us!?” The hooded figure was hysterical with pain now.
“You’d better not move, it’ll only speed the poison up. Unlike yours, mine wont kill you, but it’ll make sure you don't enjoy living either.” Kei said, his voice flat.
“It’s getting too dangerous here…” Yabu commented,
“Much too dangerous for them to be running around.” Yuya nodded.
“Does this mean… we are to anchor ourselves here?” Kei asked.
“If your anchor is there, I’d suggest you explain to him before he runs away..” Yabu nodded in the direction of the bubble in the river. Yuto sat on the ice, his eyes wide with disbelief.
“I’ll take care of this…” Yuya said, placing his hand on the wall of spears and in a burst of flame, he was gone.
“Be careful of what you tell him” Yabu said as his body faded into darkness.
Taking a deep breath, Kei walked forward, and into the riverbed. With a pass of his hand, the bubble subsided and fell into the river again, leaving Yuto sitting in the middle still spell struck.
“If you’re afraid..” Kei began
“I’m not afraid…. I’m not… afraid…”
“I suppose you have questions.”
“U-Uh… o-only if you want to answer them?” Yuto said quietly, though the small jump in his voice at the end signaled his hope that he may hear the answers now.
“Yuto.. do you remember the book that Raiya was talking about?”
“The mythology book?”
Kei nodded
“Y-Y-You’re! You’re the water god!?”
Another nod.
“S-So is it true… that you can you know? Do all that?”
“What is your favorite passage from the mythology books?”
“The story of the priest, who you saved by giving him a flower…”
Kei nodded as he took Yuto’s hand in his and in a flare of blue light, a single rose appeared, its petals and icy crystal clear. Though the entire thing was frozen, it didn't feel that way to Yuto and he nearly dropped it when he realized what was in his hand.
“T-This is the flower? A-And if I melt one of the petals… the water can cure any wound, any sickness right?!”
Again Kei nodded.
“There is much that I haven’t told you yet……”
---Hikaru---
Hikaru sat down on the ground now, he was quiet as he tended to Keito who still laid on the ground unconscious.
“Hm….. maybe I did.. overdo it a bit…” He frowned now as he gathered a few breezes and cocooned them in a orb of wind. The winds on the mortal realm were so much fun, they brought to his eyes visions of kids playing in the park nearby as they passed. Some of them even brought the sounds of their parents talking, but hearing them talk got boring quickly and Hikaru wished Keito would wake up already. When the last of the kids left the park for the night, Hikaru decided he had enough.
“Keiiito~” He sung lightly
“Keeeeitoo~” He repeated
“KEITO!”
“HUH?!” The boy jumped up, his eyes wide and alert.
“H-Hikaru… I had..”
“It wasn't a dream” The god said quickly
“B-But h-how…..”
“Do you remember a long time ago, in mythology there were such things as gods and goddesses?” Hikaru really didn't know how to explain this in particular, but he figured he may as well be direct.
Keito nodded
“Well…. Do you remember one story in particular about the overturning of the pantheon of gods?”
Again a nod
“That story wasn't just a myth…”
“W-Wait… hold on…. Yo-you…?”
“My lord, word comes from the Lord Yabu himself.” A boy suddenly appeared and Keito jumped in surprise.
“My my, Shoichi, you should probably not scare people like that….” Hikaru giggled.
“My apologies.” The silver armor clad boy bowed
“What is it?” Hikaru asked, making sure not to let his hand leave Keito’s back, as if it would offer some sort of comfort to the boy.
“The attacks are getting worse, permission has been given to find yourself an anchor befo-“
Just as the last few sounds were being uttered Hikaru jumped back as a blaze of purple light came forward and cut just inches in front of him. The ground was split open into a deep chasm and the light solidified into a man dressed in purple armor with a simple black band.
“You’ve dodged it, not bad….. hahaha” The figure cackled, his armor-framed face gleamed in the moonlight. It had a scar running along one eye and his hands seemed almost claw-like.
“But that’s nothing to be proud of yet!” He shrieked as a wave of his hand sent crisscrossing ripples of energy forward.
“A-Ahh!” Keito screamed as he tried to get out of the projectile’s path. Just as he turned around he saw Hikaru jump in front of him, two silver white fans in his hand, with one he blocked the ripples and with the other he waved it forward, the grass before him shook as an enormous gust slammed into the man, sending him into the dense bark of the tree on the outlier of the park.
“Protect him Shoichi” Hikaru said, and the boy bowed, drawing in the air the signs he would need for a protective barrier.
In a flash Hikaru darted forward, his body swift and light, and with a deafening clash he slammed himself into the figure again, his fans nearly cutting through two of the man’s claws.
“Before you attack, I suggest you get a little faster…”
“You are weak wind-god, and nothing you do can affect me!” The man yelled, shoving his claws forward, attempting again to slice anything in its path.
“Hmph… you think that’s all I can do? I hope you can see them…” Hikaru smiled sadistically as he waved the fan in his right hand forward in a wide arc, though they were invisible, Keito could almost see little crescent… somethings where the air had gathered and were running forward. Whatever was in their way, the grass, the flowers were all cut down in an instant sending petals and green shards everywhere as they flew.
“Aghh!” The man yelled as he managed to block the bulk of them, but cuts and welts appeared on his arms and his boots were shredded beyond recognition.
“Hmph, too easy..” Hikaru said again, poising himself back a bit, and with an almost playful flick he threw one of his fans forward, and watched as it spun and gathered the air around it into a large cutting blade. The petals of the flowers that hung in the air joined the whirlwind now, their long pretty shape now cut into small bits that melded together into a marvelous blend of colors.
“Haaaa!” The man shouted, and his last desperate attempt to derail the fan with a single blast of his earlier weapons did nothing. The mass of winds slammed into him now, his entire being cut into halves and vanishing just as quickly into ash.
“Hikaru!” A loud voice came as the king of the gods appeared in the moonlight.
“What did you do that for? We could have used him…”
“He was…. no fun…” Hikaru said flatly.
A few yards away, Keito sat paralyzed, some part of him still wanting to believe this was just… an elaborate dream. He stared at Hikaru, and what seemed to be a large man-sized…. glowing person.
“I’ve got to be dreaming….” He said aloud.
“It is no dream child, few have come so close to the gods themselves. You should consider yourself one of the honored few.” The boy who sat behind him said, and as he waved his hands an almost dome appeared and vanished all at once. The sudden flash scared Keito a bit at first.
“Rest easy child, it was only a barrier.” Keito nodded, though he wasn't even aware he was in one….
“Keito…. Um…. There’s…. an explanation for all of this…. I promise. Don't faint again!” Hikaru said, as he knelt down.
“W-What…. are you?”
“We…. That is… my brother gods and I….. are the gods of this realm. We’ve been called many names, Zeus, Thor, Ra, Neptune, Aeolus, all with….. varying degrees of accuracy…..” Hikaru said calmly, placing his hand on Keito’s.
“So… you’re… gods…..”
“Yes.”
“And you’re….”
“The wind god… Hikaru Yaotome, though I haven’t been called that in a long time…. Nice to meet you?” He grinned happily
“Uh…..I… I…” Keito stuttered before he passed out again in disbelief.
“This… is going to take some time…..” Hikaru sighed shaking his head
---Daiki---
“S-So… you’re a god….a-and that… was-“
“a demon…. Of sorts…..”
Ryutaro shook his head, though he wasn't quite comprehending.
“A-Are there…. More…. Like you?”
“Haha yes, I have four other brothers, you’ll be meeting them shortly….” Daiki nodded, helping Ryutaro up from the ground.
“I-If you have questions, you can ask..” Daiki continued, helping the boy to a small clearing that faced a wide open lake.
“I….. don't know what to say.”
Daiki smirked, raising his hands slightly, drawing symbols in the air. A small circle appeared as if made of green smoke. Flattening it in the air he spread it across the ground and when he raised his hands the circle glowed before dulling and fading away.
“They’re coming now… you’ll get to meet them very soon..” Daiki said but before Ryutaro could ask who, the first arrival interrupted him.
In a bright white flash, Yabu appeared stepping into view another figure was holding his hand and when he stepped onto the firm ground and the light faded the king of the gods nodded to Daiki who returned the notion.
Only moments later a small twister formed, rising from the ground up. The leaves it kicked up swirled round and round as it rose higher and higher and suddenly dissipated into nothing. In its place stood Hikaru, carrying a very much still unconscious Keito in his arms.
“A-Ano… “ He looked a bit uneasy, laying the boy next to Ryutaro who he smiled brightly at.
“Please take care of him for me okay?” He asked and the younger boy nodded dumbstruck.
Next the lake near the clearly began to churn as the waters ebbed and flowed. Ryutaro blinked a few times, rubbing his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing things. There was something…. Someone… walking out of the water. A featureless figure made of pure water walked towards them and in its hands was the figure of a tall boy and as soon as they reached the shore the water fell off them as if they were only wearing a film of it around them.
“Yuto… if you could…..” The boy from the waters spoke softly, and Ryutaro recognized him as the one that had “healed” him earlier. His companion, Yuto walked towards him and when he sat down he seemed to be more fascinated by something in his hand than he was of anyone else. Taking a small peak, Ryutaro nearly squeaked as he realized it was a silvery white flower that looked to be made of ice.
“He’s late….” Yabu said, smiring slightly as he shot a bolt of light into a small gathering of wood. The giant fire that rose from it grew almost man sized and Ryutaro gasped as a man walked through the flames, a boy in his arms too.
Setting the sleeping figure next to him, the fire-man stared at him, his intense eyes bore a hole through his head and Ryutaro felt scared. And just as he was about to shirk away the man from the fire turned away and joined the other gods in a circle. He learned their names from listening in carefully.
Yabu, the light god sat upon a golden white throne that appeared now, his voice sounding booming and loud.
“It is upon us now…” He said, and the other boys nodded
“Shall we be fighting here on earth?”
“It seems… this is the plane that they have decided to conquer first….”
“Then…. We will need to find an anchor?”
“Yes.”
“It is of our choosing correct?”
“Yes.”
“Have we discovered anything about them yet?”
“No.”
The questions went on and on, some more clear to Ryutaro than others, but he felt the boy to his left stir and he turned quickly to help him from falling over off the log he was placed on.
“W-Whoa.” He said, bracing the boy’s arms to keep him steady.
“T-Thanks…”
“You’re welcome… um… M-My name’s Ryutaro.”
“Keito.”
“My name’s Ryosuke.” Another boy chirped.
“A-Ah! You’re the actor!” The tall thin boy exclaimed.
“I-I’ve seen you before…. You’re that musician from the shore right? With the drums?”
“My name is Yuto, Yuto Nakajima.” Yuto beamed at being recognized, especially by someone famous.
“I’ve been trying to…. wake him up… but….” Ryosuke clicked his tongue, as the three other boys turned to look at a sleeping boy.
“Let’s try these?” Yuto produced a balm from his pocket. He waved the container under the sleeping boy’s nose and they jumped as the boy sprang up instantly.
“My brother’s had some health problems before…. So…. we had to keep some of these things around….” He explained, noticing the strange looks he was getting.
“W-Whats your name?” Ryutaro asked as the boy on the ground began to regain his focus.
“C-Chinen Yuri….”
“Nice to meet you” the boys said in union.
Meanwhile in the circle, the gods had almost reached the conclusion of their conference.
“We will have to find them…” Yuya said through clenched teeth, he was still fuming over Chinen’s attack, perhaps a bit more than he’d care to admit.
“I agree…. But now that they know about our charges, we have no choice but to protect them as well....” Yabu said
“I… would like to use him as my anchor.” Inoo said,
“The tall mortal boy?” Yabu asked.
“Yes… do you all feel that way about the ones you’ve brought here?” Yabu asked, and the gods thought for a moment before they nodded.
“Then… you may go ahead…. But be sure you explain to them what it means…..” Yabu sighed.
He watched as the gods took the hand of their companion and walked off to corners of the clearing.
“Ryosuke…”
“Yuto….”
“Keito…”
“Yuri…”
“Ryutaro…”
The conversations always started the same.
“Long ago, there were things such as oracles, priests and priestess that had extraordinary powers. You read about men in ancient texts who could part the seas, women who could foretell the future, great holy men who had the power to do extraordinary things like excise demons and control the very ground they stood on. All of these things are one in the same…”
The reactions always were the same, the looks of disbelief and surprise didn't bother the gods anymore.
“These men and women were our chosen ones. All these men and women rose in times of trial and great strife, but they arose because we the gods needed to intervene in the affairs of man. We descended to earth to prevent your kind from making disastrous mistakes and we wanted to help mankind flourish after it was almost decimated in the Great War many lifetimes ago. So when we came, we chose a being that we deemed worthy, and made him or her an anchor. They would serve as the tie that bound our powers to this realm, by using a corporeal body on earth our powers in this world grew a thousand fold we were then able to help shape the destiny of mankind. This was of course, not without benefits to the men and women we chose. Since we share a part of our being with our anchors, they too gain some limited use of our powers, Hikaru’s ability to read the future went to the oracles, Kei’s power to manipulate the waters to moses, even Takaki’s incredible bravery went to the greek Odysseus, all of these were the results of our blessings. The only condition we had for our powers… was their faith. So long as they had faith in our abilities to help them, we would stay with them, and guide them. As the new years passed and the old religion became less and less important, The stories of us faded and there were less and less people for us to choose. The priestess that guard our shrines now are certainly faithful, but now… they would be too old for us to recruit…. And so…..”
“I would like you to be my anchor.” The gods finished their speech in unison, the boys they were speaking to froze in surprise.

Once again, comments are appreciated!
