Alive and well

Just popping by to let concerned people know that I'm OK here in Brisbane*. Flood waters will not be reaching my family's homes, and there is lots of time for other Brisbane residents to prepare for the worst of the floods - unlike the poor people caught in flash floods in Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley yesterday ( Read more... )

We have one aunt who is prepared for flooding, she thought better safe than sorry so has moved her stuff, sandbagged the house and will sit safely at another family member's house for a couple of days. Like I said, so much better than flash flooding! I never knew how fast that could happen before.

Thanks for the good thoughts :)

It's a relief to hear you're ok. Thanks for posting.
Send the rain to the Perth metro area. We have bush fires set by arsonists in Mandurah that's devastated homes and bushland.
Stay safe.

I'm relieved that you're OK.

I knew I had a dozen or so Aussies on my flist, if only from Ashes banter, but now I discover I have four in Queensland. Funny how close the internet can bring one to disasters and tragedies, isn't it?

Stay safe and dry. Yes, the Beeb is going for the dramatic footage, but your Pommy cousins are genuinely concerned.

Yay, I'm glad you're okay. The newspaper pix here are rather dire as well, and I have been thinking of you.

The flash floods west of us were just terrible. I have never seen anything like it in Queensland. The valley was at least understandable, but Toowoomba is a drought-prone town in a tiny catchment on the top of a mountain!
