I actually wrote back to them grumping more or less the above, and suggesting they check timestamps before suggesting their customers lack reading comprehension. Because it's just that kind of day, apparently.
Amazon has terrible customer service. Every interaction I have that isn't just "order book, receive book" goes badly. And they always blame the customer. I don't use them anymore unless I can't get something any other way and I really need it. They're right up there with Sears and Best Buy in my book.

I got another response today that basically said again "we cancelled it because we had the price wrong." Yay for people not reading!
